New/Redesigned Savage Axis Models

I seen a couple vids on the new Axis - what I do like is that the barrel is more of a medium countour but I will not buy another one and will not sell the one I own.

I do like the barrel is a medium contour as well, and also that both the 308 and 30-06 are 20" barrels, would work nice when I want a rifle shorter than my others to carry around in the thicker bush.

The "look" of mass market production rifles seems to be changing. Straight grips, well defined (cough.ugly.cough) cheek risers and flat forends are so.hot right now.

I can't wait till I'm 60 and all the young people think the same thing I do about "weatherby" styled stocks

The last hunting rifle I purchased was a 20” .30-06. I have to say, I love it for the reason you mentioned! It’s so easy to pack around.

The comb on the stock looks like the new Ruger American, but that’s about where the comparison ends. I see these doing well, just like the other generations, but the old design was getting left behind by the new models of other budget rifles. I do respect their accuracy though, despite the feel, fit and finish, those suckers can shoot.

Why not make the stock like the Stevens 200 were? I personally don't like the finger groove or whatever they have on the forearm. Dislike this abstract art new style of stocks.
