My Grandpa and I were looking at the New Redfield and Bushnell Elite Scopes at our local Sporting goods store. Looking for some advice on there quality, and durability for hunting.

What has your experience been like between these?

How do they compare to other lines of scopes like Nikon and Leupold???

Anyone have the Redfield Accu-range reticlue or Bushnell DOA ???

Possibly going to be a replacement scope for an old Remington 725 in .270 winchester.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

They are a great scope for the money. Here the basic 3-9x40 Redfield with the Accu-range is $180 vs. about $250 for an entry level Elite. I had one on a .243 and it did very well, however my Nikon Buckmaster has a definite edge in optical clarity. (It's also $100 more) at $180 they cannot be beat. However, once you get into the $250 range there are many competitive options.

Redfield is a good scope but the 4200 Elite has better optics. The new Elite is very clear, just like the 4200. Great hunting and general target shooting scope.

I love my Redfields.... very crisp and clear, have never fogged up or let me down in the field.... I aslo have A bushnell elite which is in that price point.... It hasn't let me down either....

Redfield Pros - Nice Reticle, clearer and brighter, made in USA, good warranty (Leupold)
Redfield Cons - Limited Magnifications available, Adjustment clicks are mushy

Bushnell Pros - Lots of variability options, Nice Reticle (DOA), Crisp adjustments
Bushnell Cons - Made god knows where with questionable warranty (I have gone through this with trail cams), Heavy, not clear at last light or dawn

I give the edge to Redfield

Questionable Warranty?

They have replaced the one scope I had issues with no questions asked. It was a discontinued model and they sent me the newer version at no charge.

Electronic products have a different warranty then their scopes.

The Bushnell 3200 is a better quality scope than the Redfields. Not by alot, but there is a difference, but at around the same price I would choose Bushnell.

If you can find a 4200 on clearance it is well worth the extra $50!

Take the Redfield and a 4200 outside of the store and look through them. The 4200 is optically way clearer than the Redfield. 3200 and Redfield are closer but the 4200 is a much better scope IMO.

Both are great scopes. I've used both, and owned the 3200. Since Bushnell are getting rid of their 3200 and 4200 and going to just the Elite line and the 6500 line, all the 3200 and 4200 are on sale (at least at Whole Sale Sports). From what I've been told, the the Elite line are essentially 4200s. Essentially your Redfield scopes will sit somewhere between the 3200 and 4200 and the current pricing will reflect that.

Several places have Leupold VXI's for $209 or $219 with an LR reticle. I just bought one from Omenica Sports. I see WSS has them as well.
