New Release from Chiappa!!!!

Seems like the current price down south for a Chiappa .45-70 takedown carbine is around $1500US so...... the "price is right" as they say.

I want to shoot one just at dusk to see the muzzle flash should burn the hair off what ever your shooting at if it's within 50 yards. I thought my Ruger Number 3 had kick in 45-70. What is the little gizmo on the front of the magazine tube under the front of the barrel for.

That is the takedown release. You press the button then pull the Mag. tube forward and then you can unscrew the barrel from the action to separate it into two parts for transport/storage.

I would be all over this in a second.....but 2k?, not that I cant afford it, but its awfully pricey for what it is.
I was looking for a marlin trapper 12", but its very hard to find.....but from what I understand, I can buy a new factory barrel from marlin, and have that modified and reinstalled, then it would be legal.

if this was half that price, which is what it should be...I would be all over this

Very cool gun I would really like to look at it better yet shoot it and I really like that it is a take down.

I have to admit the price is a bit of a shock to the system though... :sok2

I have three 45-70's now stainless Marlin 1895GS (18.5" barrel) & two stainless T/C Contender carbines with 22" & 14" barrels so have experience with short barreled 45-70's.

I would love to try out my 460gr - 525gr -550gr WLNGC Marlin loads in this short cannon been thinking of adding a short 15" - 16" 45-70 barrel to my Prohunter rifles so I could shoot my Marlin loads in a short gun.

My understanding is the Win 1886 action is stronger than the Marlin 1895 action so should be able to handle anything a Marlin 1895 can and more.

For those of you commenting on a longer 16" barrel while I understand your thoughts I'm thinking you are missing how short and fast handling a 12" barreled carbine like this would be to use and pack.

There really isn't anything like packing a short cannon that can take on anything in North America and if this gun produces good accuracy I wouldn't hesitate to take moose size game out to and beyond 250 yards with my loads.

I limit myself to 200 yards with my 14" Contender carbine in 45-70 only because I have to load reduced pressure loads for these little single shots.

One other thought I have heard poor reports on the reliability of the longer barreled Kodiak action poor/rough feeding issues I'd expect for this money that this carbine's action would be glass smooth.

I am overstocked in 45-70 GVT/450 Marlin as well - 1 x Marlin 1895G, 1 x Marlin 1895GS, 1 x Miroku Winchester 1886, 1 x Pedersoli 86/71 that I'll be selling.
Also 1 x Miroku Winchester 1894 Trails End take down in 450 Marlin, 1 x Browning '81 BLR take down in 450 Marlin.

I've read the disparaging reports about the other Chiappa stainless offerings in regards to feeding/cycling issues and metal finishes that developed "pock marks" of corrosion.

The jury is still out on the latest Chiappa offering pending range reports and a sale discount if the guns are hard to move because of the price down the road.

I might consider one if the range reports were good and the price dropped below $1500.

I'd have to sell something before I can even begin to nibble and I have to finish paying off my hopefully to be delivered soon Labradar chrony first.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. My go to rifle!! Impressed the H$LL out of the boys at camp too.

The BLR action is even stronger (and smoother) than the Win 92 action.

I already have 2 BLR '81 take down rifles, one in 450 Marlin and the other in 308 Win but I'll definitely be looking at one of the new Chiappas if they pan out in the field/range tests and the price comes down.
