I just purchased a new reloading set up. I am reloading 260 Remington with 140 grain Hornady SST and a 308 with 165 grain Hornday SST. Is there one powder i could get that would work well with both loads. My shop has IMR and Hodgson in stock and a limited amount of Winchester powders. I don't want to buy too many powders while starting out.

You could ask somebody , who has a hornady manual , to post a pic of those cartridges. The hornady manual has all the data for their projectiles. Powder, caliber, weight ,etc.

I also try to keep my powder choices as simple as possible, and prefer to have one powder for rifles, one for pistols.

I'm not familiar with the .260 Remington, but I use Varget in my .308 for the Hornady 155gr Amax's I use. I'd be surprised if it didn't work in the .260 as well.

I also use it for my .303's. I too prefer to have as few powders as possible, and only use Varget for my rifles. I'm stocked up on Varget for a few years.

I tried to stick to W231 as the only powder for my pistols, but the shortages have forced me to branch out into other powders.
