New reloading bench project

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice.

I did make it with plywood because I had a bunch readily available. If I ever use it so much that it gets beaten up it's pretty easy to change the top for something better. i did listen to you and coated it. Frame is overkill, bolted to the ground and the back wall... top is 1.5 '' thick plywood.

You sir need more guns. Great looking bench!

I thinned my collection a lot when I moved to Ottawa... There is no range under 1h30 drive from my place so I can't shoot restricted unless I go to a 25m indoor range with high membership fee for just 25m. I only get to shoot 3-4 times a year until I can find some sandpit I can go and unleash lead. I had to many safe queens anyway... I usually end up just shooting 2-3 guns (the ones I kept) and Trap shooting (this shotgun will never leave my family anyway)

The bench looks great! I really like the look of the top and the front face. Good work there.

I hope those 4-by-4 legs don't twist on you. Every time I've used 4-by-4 stock it's twisted or split on me. But then again, I am buying the Twistywood™-brand stuff from Home Depot, which seems to be their default house brand.

Is that an RCBS M500 scale on your shelf? If so, what do you think of the scale?

I love the look of it too !

Those are threated 4by4s from local wood place, I sure hope they don't move too much because there are 6 of 'em haha that would mess up.

I'm not sure it's the M500... it came in the Rock Chucker supreme master kit and I had no problem so far with it. Are you considering it or you had problems with yours ?

Overkill.... NAH! ! ! Sounds just right to me. Seriously, when it comes to work benches where you are levering and prying like you will with the press it's hard to reach "overkill" status.

It looks DARN fine in fact. As mentioned the press is on the wrong side though. You a southpaw?

Press can be moved around on the bench if I want to. The right side of the Bench is where the door of the room opens so it would always hit the press. I'm trying it on that side and see if I like it. If I don't I'm just gonna drill and put T nuts on the right side and switch it when I need to use it. When I designed the whole thing I placed it there for a test run and it didn't bother me to be there, I'll see on the long run.

I looked it up and the M500 is what comes with the master kit.

I've had mine for a couple of months now and like it. But whenever I've posted about it on CGN not many people have commented on it. I'm wondering if not a lot of people use it.
