New rem 750 issues

Hi all just thought I would tell everyone I bought a new Rem 750 last week. Gun arrived and I went about putting a scope on it.
When I took off the rear sight the back sight screw hole was stripped, took off the rear screw in the front sight and the second screw under the sight was just in the hole and not even threaded in, did not have to nock the sight off to get at the screw. Makes me wonder how the rest of my $800 plus gun was assembled.

Had to add think this will be my last Remington, three in a row with issues right out of the box. Other manufacturers want my business....
 
The new series of sights on Remington's pumps and semis only have on threaded hole the other non threaded hole receives the pin on the sight base to prevent canting or sight movement. Your front sight should be an all one piece base and sight unit.The older ones had a second screw under the front sight blade. The rear sight hole should not be stripped.A smith can re chase the hole WHERE YOU PURCHASED IT. I have complete faith in the quality of the 750 and 7400 series rifles. Own both with NO issues. Keep it clean and use good ammo and you will have no issues also.

Seems to cycle ok and is fairly accurate given what it is. I will not send it to have the sight hole repaired as I am not leaving the sights on the rifle any how. Still my last Remington until they decide quality is a selling feature....

Just had a look and it is a pin, sad place to save a little money. Why not thread the hole and put a screw under there. Price goes up quality seems to suffer.

love mine too! 7mm rem mag, got an interarms in 308 win as well. they are identical in performance and quality. but other than the stock on the 798, (mine is laminate) they are not Remington. i just sold my 700 spsdm in 300 win mag and will not buy another. mausers all the way.
 
My Rem 750 works quite well. Used it the from the 20-26 November this year. Temps ranged from -45 in the am to -30 for a high. Shot fine with no issues whatso ever. This is my third or fourth year using it. Shoots well. Took a mule doe at 390 meters with a 180 grain Core-Lock.

I really like this rifle - just need to find a REm 7600 in 35 Whelen now just because :)
