After I tested my HP9-1 for reliability and found that it worked well, I modded it.

It is 100% reliable with any and all ammo that I have run through it including the cheap CT birdshot.

Well - That cheap Winchester ammo can make any gun look bad, based upon very personal experience.

I think the problem is us. We keep looking for a better bang for less bucks. They are just meeting the demand for cheap guns. I bought an Express, not a Wingmaster. And that's exactly what I got. Thankfully 10 mins of work made it perfect... Just my 2 cents

Wingmasters are not much better than Expresses these days. And those Marine Magnums weren't cheap. $700+ for a pump action shot un is hardly bargain basement pricing. For that money, you'd expect a gun that works properly out of the box...not an unfinished receiver that needs to be polished to cycle ammo.

Besides, if Remington is going to sell products that are not ready for use right of of the box and require additional work, they should make it explicitly known to the prospective buyer. Otherwise, it's just false advertising.

I would agree with that, Mossberg's seem to work just great right out of the box! Used to be Mossberg was at the bottom and Remington was in the lead, sad how times have changed!
