I just bought a used mint Remington 700CDL in 30-06 with a new Leupold VXI 3-9X40 scope and rings/bases. The rifle is in mint condition with only 2 tiny nicks on the black grip cap. This whole package is mounted and ready to shoot, shipped to me I paid $900. Is this a good deal??

What are peoples experiences with this rifle, or can I just chalk it up to being a Rem 700 and it should be a great gun?? I bought it for hunting deer, moose and bear in Ontario and for the longer shots on deer when my Win 94 30-30 wont cut it. I wanted a bolt action for its accuracy and reliability, I couldnt talk myself into a semi-auto even though most of my hunting friends have them.

Here's mine in 35 Whelen........

I have a Model Seven CDL in .223 as well.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. The CDL designation is referring to the stock grade I believe. Are the rings and mounts Leupold as well? If so they are about $60 new. The scope is $250 new and used would go $175-200 in like new condition, IMO. Sounds like a decent deal. Is it bedded, or trigger done? That should add a bit of value. Nicely done. .30-06 is one of the most versatile cartridges IMO for where we live and what we hunt. Find a load that works with 180 grain bullets and shoot anything you can find.

I have a couple of those CDL's. My 270 Winchester has a gorgeous piece of wood and is the rifle that I have taken the longest successful shot with in the field. With the 140 Accubond, it seldom shoots a group over ½", and never over ¾" at 100. You don't get rid of a rifle that looks good and also shoots. Regards, Eagleye.
