New! Remington R15 VTR Semi

Benefit of doubt?

Perhaps the "guy" at WSS is not a buffoon and is/was merely confusing the new R-15 VTR with the new M700 VTR.

Why Remington decided to name two new products the same is beyond my comprehension. Just imagine my joy when I entered SIR/Cabela's today and they told me they had the new VTR.:dancingbanana: Then they pulled out this Rem700 with a triangular barrel.:( It's nice, but it's not an AR.

...but the names 'R15 VTR' and 'M700 VTR' are not the same...

Varmint Tactical Rifle...you may choose to argue the silliness of names, but it shouldn't be any more confusing even for the dumbest clientele than Honda's ___ EX model, or a Dodge/Chrysler ____ SRT__ , etc etc

Winz, you're trying to interject a little logic here. Many folks are seriously lacking logic and/or the ability to fully comprehend the difference between M700VTR and R15VTR.

Well then he made his point, didn't he? That DOES, in fact, make the WSS guy a "baffoon".

Unless you call the guy that actually orders all the guns for Edmonton WSS one, I mean they sold over 4000 firearms in 2007, I'm sure he misread it, not!

According to Remington, VTR stands for Varmint-Target Rifle. I recall seeing a post a while back where someone said Remington screwed up by putting "tactical" in the name...they didn't.

Well there you go. Seems like I'm the only baffoon ... :p

In any case...Varmint rifle...the VTR acronym nomenclature shouldn't be confusing.

This is a link to remington's web site. They call it "Tactical"

A fusion of our most advanced performance features in both tactical and varmint rifles, the new Model 700™ Varmint-Tactical Rifle (VTR™) is a revolutionary system optimized for extended-range precision and mobility. Its triangular barrel contour is a product of years of rigorous research and development focused on reducing weight, enhancing rigidity and promoting rapid heat dissipation.

Doesn't matter what they call it, its an AR variant = restricted.
