just noticed that 6.5" bbl versions of the n-frame s&w's are released this month in 44 spcl and 45 colt. think im going to go with the special myself :)

sadly, this is true. its a tough decision, i kinda had a tip the 44 spcl was on the way, but the 45 colt was a surprise. i still think ill get the spcl.
 
They also have a Model 27 in .357. I'm getting the itch for a .357 revolver...

Does anyone know if the grip of the 4" Model 27 could be purchased and installed on the 6 1/2" Model 27?

i don't know about the grip, i was considering grabbing one too. common sense would dictate smith would sell you one for a profit....still, sometimes companies do funny things:confused:
 
The product sheet says launch date for the model 27 is April (model 24 & 25 is February). :( At least this gives me time to save $$$, and maybe buy another rifle while I wait. ;)

is that good or bad, or not an issue?
 
Depends on you I guess. I personally find the RB frames easier to grip (small hands), although with the longer barrels they look a little odd to my eyes. So I guess it's a wash, unless you're a staunch traditionalist. On the other hand, the revolvers coming out of S&W right now are some of the best they've built in years (CNC machining is a wonderful thing), so I'd give them a qualified thumbs up, at least until I get my hands on one or two and see how they perform. - dan

thanks for the reply, i guess im gonna have to go and get one:D i really don't know whether to get nickel or blue though. ive seen some pics where nickel looks really good, and others where it is way too shiny. does nickel dull a bit as it ages? anyone wanting to post pics of their nickel revolvers, that would be great.

The last ones of these I owned were M24-3 3" and 4" and they cost me $300 each; how times change prices as they now list at $988.00 (US). Regards, Richard:confused:
 
By the way to all the CGN dealer advertiser friends - Who is going to be getting some of the new S&W classic repros like the 24-25-27 and/or who will accept orders now with deposit?

I just asked in the dealers section. I'd like to hold one first, though. The grip looks kind of fat, or something, to me. Perhaps I'm too used to the 'cowboy' grip on my single action revolver.

They are target stocks and definitely larger than a cowboy single action stock. Same size as older S&W target models, Colt Python etc. Use 2 hands and it's all good.
