New rifle 3 questions?

My first question to you is, if money is no object why not get a TRG 42? You will be hard pressed to get a more accurate rifle, factory or custom!(Yes I have a TRG 42):D Second thought is, if you are only paper punching why not get a more accurate calibre? IMO 6.5-.284 first, 6 br or 6xc.

I would give Rick at ATR a call or Steve at PGWDTI.

I have to agree 100% with LongRangeCanuk and BigUglyMan on the rifle, Rick at ATR can build you what ever you want and it would be out of this world. His service and workmanship are second to none. As for calibre, 300win mag is a great cartridge, but I would very seriously consider a 7mm Rem. Mag. It is an extremely flat shooting cartridge out to a very long distance. Talk to Rick see what he suggests, you can't go wrong with what everyone has suggested. Let us know how you make out

Money Is No Object Gun

The thing you should do first is think of, why you want this gun?
What would you want to do with the gun?
Go to the range, hunt, or both?
Do you want to carry it hunting, or sit in a blind?
Do you like light and handy guns or heavy and cumbersome anvils?
Do you like or dislike recoil, what cal do you need?
Do you like Stainless or Blued guns?
Wood or synthetic furniture?
Is it the only really fine firearm you would or could ever own?
Do you feel a firearm is a status symbol, or don't feel you have to impress others, or just personal satisfaction?

This is how I look at things.
I have had over two thousand guns over the years. I look at the military guns for reliability in any type of condition. I look at commercial firearms for beauty, fit to the shooter, and feel of the trigger, and recoil of the caliber.
I would have something built in a 6.5X55 or 7X57 or 7-08. I would have a bolt action, a beautiful piece of walnut for a stock, and a caliber that will kill anything I point at. Optics that are top quality and easy to use. It would be something that feels like a part of me, and I could shoot all day without developing a flinch.
That's my two cents.

In your line of work:eek: your welcome to try it out if you ever get a post down in the tropics of Ft. Mac :D

What, and be the poorest guy in town? :D I had a troop mate go there. From what I've heard the place is a real zoo.

Zoo??? That's an understatement and being polite. If it wasn't for the fact we have an awesome gun club and I live out in the middle of nowhere I would have to leave. It cost's a fortune to live here, drugs are probably as bad or worse than any big city, you cant move downtown. I could go on and on but it wouldn't do any good. The best thing of all about being up here is when you get into the woods away from it all, It just doesnt get any better than that.:)

"always like that"!:D

As far as our club goes, we have had many memebers over thhe years that have been Provincial, National, and Wolrd champions in many different diciplines from Biathalon to trap and skeet, and I
am very proud to be a member of it since 1975!:D
