I don't know if this really qualifies as a Precision rifle, but it's made for shooting. I waited for almost 3 months for a Model 12 LPV .223 with a 1 in 9 twist and I was finally able to get one with a 1 in 7 twist instead with no estimated time on the 1 in 9 twist to arrive. When I ordered this rifle my intent was shooting gophers, crows, magpies and paper out to 300 yards or so. I had a scope set aside for it, but that didn't work out so I went to one of our sponsor's place today (Frontier) and picked up a Falcon Menace 4-14 FFP with Leupold PRW rings and had it mounted. I looked through a bunch of scopes at Frontier today and maybe my eyes aren't that good, but I couldn't justify the $300.00 plus difference between the 6500 series scopes and the Falcon for some additional magnification. Not for my limited use anyway. I'll post some target pics (hopefully tomorrow) when I get out.

It's not a cheap rest by any means. I've only tried it (once) with my Sako Quad so far and it seems to be pretty good. Once I get to use it a little more I will be able to give you a better review.
 
Nice Rig! I am sure it will be a pleasure to shoot. With a 1 in 7 twist, and providing the rifle has a sufficiently long enough throat to accommodate 80 grain bullets, you might just have yourself a rig with which you could try out some F-Class shooting.

Thanks. I'm not sure about F class shooting, but here in rural Sask I'm definitely interested in G (gopher) class shooting.:D

That is a really nice rifle...you probably already know this but "G-class" is really addictive !!
I can attest to this because I wore out a couple rifles shooting that "class" long before I had grey hair... :)

Nice rig too BTW. I would love to try the 90g Bergers. The fast twist should add some great cinematics for the G class, if you know what I mean.
 
I was finally able to get out today. It was really windy (which seems to be the norm now) so I'll blame that on my poor groups. My target board kept blowing over until I was able to anchor it well. I had a bunch of 52gr Hornady HPBT Match bullets (25.5gr Benchmark powder) loaded for a T3 that I sold a while back and used them for this outing. The first 5 didn't look too good. The holes look funny because the board was leaning towards me for the first 5 rounds.

I started trying to shoot when it was constantly windy and between the major gusts. Every 5 rounds I would walk down to the target and take a pic until I had 35 rounds in one group.

I put a fresh target up, moved the cross hairs a bit and shot 20 rounds rapid fire.

Here's a pic of my fancy shooting table and where I shoot. The target board is 100 yards down and along the right side. It's a field road and rarely used except by farmers for the people who may be ready to spaz on me for shooting on a road.

With some load development and more trigger time I think this might be a pretty good shooting rifle. Better than me anyway.

Edit to add....the squares on the targets are 1/2" each.

What, they're only farmers? They don't count? You can't control who's coming over that rise, and there's a structure (silo? elevator?) directly in line with your target. People use that structure, right? You have no backstop, and if a round gets away from you, you haven't got a clue where it going to land.
Please find a better place to shoot than this before someone gets hurt.
 
I appreciate your concern Steve. It's up hill all the way and that's a tree a long ways down the road. The angle I'm shooting on has me shooting into the field and not directly down the road. Here's a picture from my house towards the East where I shoot.

The red X on the left is where I was shooting from and the red X on the right is approx 100 yards away where my target was. As you can see it's going uphill to the South which is the way the road goes. In the pic of my rifle on the bench you can see the edge of town and my house is up on the far left if that helps put the area in perspective.

Edit to add....farmers aren't an endangered species around here.:p:D

That 'structure' in line with the target looks more like a bluff of trees, and I'm gunna venture a guess and say that if the target is 100 yds, then the 'structure' are way over 1500 yds. And seein as your target looks lower then the 'structure'..... unless you had that .223 pointed at the sky, you couldn't even dream of hitting them.
I'm not sure it would be my first choice to shoot either, but I don't think there's much danger.
BTW, what do you think of that scope?
 
Today was the first time I tried the scope and I like it. The FFP is really noticeable on the targets I was using. With the cross hair centered it's two hash marks (ML 16 reticle) to the edge of the target. At 4x it's the same as 14x which looks kind of weird initially. The target is 7" across and I'm guessing a Gopher is about the same length so I should be able to do some range estimation with it.
