New Rifle for the Collection

I had this problem as well. It just got worse because now I own all the above, minus the G43 and STG.....(for now....)

Out of all of them, my favourite seem to be the German Mausers. It's just a better rifle then that damn rimmed case Enfield. I know, I know...I'm gonna hear all about how good Enfields are....I have a No4 and a Mk1, and I still love my K98k way more.

Either way, I don't think you're going to go wrong with any of them. After all, they were selected to fight wars with.

Ahhh the STG 44 is very sweet.. where did you find such nice wood.
Takes me back.. I owned a Mkb42(h) when I was young and very foolish. Sold it to a dude north of Edmonton in 1985 or was it 86. What color was my hair? Oh right.. Anyhow
he must be getting old... maybe even ... sick... If your reading this... I WANT IT BACK!

For some people price is the only factor, for others it is historical significance of the firearm or cartridge and for some of us it can be as simple as their ancestry or what they grew up being most aware of. I'm an ex-pat Brit so I grew up with the whole Lee Enfield, Bren and Sten thing, Hotspur and the Victor comics etc etc - ergo my first milsurps were LE but I also wanted US stuff ( think war movies in the 60's and the impression they leave on a kid's mind ) so got some Garands. The Germans were very good soldiers and the Mauser has a well deserved place in history - my, I must add a Mauser. Get the idea ? The reasons for purchase are as many, and as individual, as we are but the most important thing is to get something and shoot it and enjoy the ownership experience.

Personally ( tongue firmly in cheek ), I really like French and Italian milsurps - they are usually never fired and sometimes still have the bits of white cotton attached to the bayonets ....but that is another story :dancingbanana:
