I am of the personal opinion that everyone should own at least one .243......
And a:
.30-06
.308
.375 H&H
.270
7X57
.22 LR
.223
.22-250
7MM08
.35 Whelen
Get the drift???

Well the 30-06 isn't a shy puppy... Between the 300 WSM and the 300 WM. There isn't a hole lot of difference in performance. Either / or is fine. Now going up in caliber is another option that is a tad more interesting in itself. The 9.3 is on my New Years resolution list, and I would select that over a 338 WM. The 9.3 charms an interest due to being a variant of the 30-06 case, which can be necked up to a 32-06; 338-06, 35 Whelen and the 9.3 mm. All of them are great preformers and obtain decent ballistics out of the parent case.
If the 9.3x62 is on the list, the 35Whelen should be in the mix as well.![]()
Didn't take long for me to choose between the two although I have had four different 9.3 X 62s ( still have the Whelen ! ).

a pair of 358 Norma Magnums, a model 1651 Husqvarna and a model 68DL Schultz & Larsen.
that aren't getting used enough. Why own a 243 when one could own a 257Roberts instead?I am of the personal opinion that everyone should own at least one .243......
Why own a 243 when one could own a 257Roberts instead?
Why own a 243 when one could own a 6mm Remington instead?
If only one... I would probably go .300 WM. Even over the WSM for a variety of reasons that I an sure have been covered (although I haven't read this thread).

I agree. But, keeping in mind that much of what I have calibre wise is just off of the side of centre or the beaten path so to speak. I gave this
model 70 to my buddy. 'Things' were a little tight for him at the time, he wanted a decent Moose rifle and, I had recently obtained this Schultz & Larsen, in 308 Norma Magnum.
Saw that one before... gorgeous rifle... you're a good buddy, Johnn.
