New Rifle Test Win .270 WSM

Yes, they have more under the hood definitely than a 270win. Case I think is based on the 404 Jeffrey's(feel free to correct me if I am wrong) where the 270 win is based on a 06 case.
 
The 270 WSM would be the only one i'd consider if i'd get a short magnum, i think it is the one that gain the more from the Short magnum hype... Cheers.JP.
 
I agree with you caramel. 300wsm and 300 win mag are just about the same. I have a 7wsm and that is more or less the same as a 7mm rem mag. The 270wsm is a clear gain over the 270win.
 
270 WSM is the ultimate non-dangerous game all-rounder:
  • varminting - 110gr Hornady V-Max at 3400-3500fps
  • medium game - 140gr Nosler Accubond at 3200fps
  • large game - 165gr Matrix Ballistics hunting VLD at 2900fps (can have problems with stability)

And like a Short Magnums, it is extremely easy to reload and very accurate.

Biggest myth in the "New" rifle world. A new gospel according to the marketers at Winniefield.

Anything you can do with the WSM, I can do with the .270. Anything!

Go to winnies online ballistics calculator, select 150gr XP for both, zero @ 200, press shoot. Look at energy difference at 500yds. This would be max for both cartridges. Tell me what you going to do more with a wSM.

This is a very elementary comparison, but the difference will hold through with nearly all scenarios in both home rolled and factory, firing the SAME bullet. Going on 90, and still the .277 wonder of the modern world.:eek:

Makes for fun arguments nonetheless.:)

Any .270 fans like to step up and help kick some of this WSM crap around the parking lot?


Kinda getting boring like .308/.30-06, .300WSM/.300WM, all same cartridge in practical ballistic terms. Meaning what you can accomplish flying into a given set of lungs, at a given range.:popCorn:
