Looking at buyin a new rifle for coyotes and maybe prairie dogs.....The local gun store was out of the most 22-250 brand i was interested in. They did have a sako a7 with a 3x9 burris scope on there. I know nothing of the burris scope so i didnt' buy. Can anyone fill me in on them? Is that a good combo? I want a god accurate scope and was probably gonna spend in the $300 range on one with a gun i buy. Thanks for your input. Also please fire away with suggestions on rifles in the $800 range before accesories. I was likeing the t3 lite. My favorite is the blr but i'm probably better off with a bolt action as i'm told the blr won't be as accurate.

Yep and if necessary you can pick up a box of .223 anywhere fairly cheap . The 22-250 will have a bit of range advantage but with a decent rifle and good loads you can make gophers very nervous at 400 yards with a .223 and although we're used to talking 1,000 yards , 400 yards is a long way shooting at gophers that are , what . 3 inches wide , shootin' in the breeze ? 400 yard coyotes are very doable with a .223 , if you have the wind nailed .
 
You can't go wrong with the T3s. I had a T3 Lite in .223 that I sold to a friend of mine. This past weekend I watched him put 3 factory rounds of Nosler Ballistic Tip into a sub-MOA group. If you don't mind the lightweight barrel then I would have a keen look at the hunting EE for a used one. The money you save can be added to your scope budget.
 
i'm not able to look at the used section yet...... there was a sako a7 with a burris scope at the store as well..any experience with burris scopes?? the gun was $1180 and if i bought a regular rifel i'd be spending roughly $300 or so on a scope. Just wasnt sure if it was a crappy scoppe or not.
 
I own a Savage 12 LRPV (long range precision varmint) chambered in .223. Though it needs to be rested ( very big and heavy), it is a fantastic rifle. Extremely precise.
The whole line of models 12 by Savage have quite a good reputation.
 
I used to use a 22-250 for the dogs but out in windy old Saskatchewan I decided I wanted to shoot a heavier bullet and started using a .243. Bought a Tikka T3 and haven't looked back. .65" avg groups with my hand loads and my daughter shot her first whitetail with it this fall.
 
Picked up a stainless savage model 14 in 22-250. It has a 1:12 twist as well. I shoot 55gr nosler varmageddon and hornady 53gr vmax. Shoots very good just would be nice if it would eject a little better.

I have two rifles with Burris scopes and I really like them. From what I understand, they are similar in quality to Leupold and have the same forever warranty. I have a Burris Scout 2.75 on my Browning BLR .308 takedown and I just bought a CZ 527 Carbine 7.62x39 and put a Burris Timberline 4.5-14 on it. Both scopes were just under $300 and I couldn't be happier with them.

And by the way, the CZ I picked up would be a great coyote rifle too as long as you aren't taking shots further than @200 yards. I got the rifle because it's chambered to shoot my cheap russian surplus ammo that I already have for my SKS. I can practice to my hearts content for 14.5 cents per shot and it's still a great deer rifle with some soft point bullets. I might build some hand loads eventually for hunting to get the best accuracy. I'm about $1200 in with the rifle and scope including taxes.
