Woah boy, woah!!!!!!!
You better yard off that Ti action and swap out this one to get some wieght shaved off.;)

Just think how that Helix bolt would look with that fluted barrel.:dancingbanana:

Id rather have a thousand bucks in my pocket :p

Very good purchase, Tod. A bit of a duplication, considering your other hunting rifle, but it definitely is a lifetime investment. I don't imagine you'll ever part with it.

pressed checkering?....no pressed checkering on that Remington....:)

isn;t nearly as sharp or deep as the checkering on the LSS mtn rifles or BDLs. still looks good. has the "rounded" apearence of pressed. could be wrong ;)

(you're not helping much rembo, I know he'll grow tired of walnut and I want him to sell me that "####ty pressed checkered" stock cheap ;) )

...............Show off!! Couldn't just come back quietly eh man??? :D When i bought my Ruger Stainless in 06 the gunshop owner showed me the brochure on that one but he wouldn't have one for a couple months.

..............Awesome gun dude:dancingbanana: Stainless with walnut looks really nice.

Checkering is very definitely "laser cut" (burned)

It looks reasonably good to the naked eye (much better than "pressed") and is quite uniform. The several I've looked at ( and two that I own ) are burned at about 20 l.p.i., with no overruns. Tops of the diamonds are sharp, are at surface level, and provide good tactile grip. Borders are pretty much perfect. Wood grain is easily discernable through the checkering pattern much like it is on good cut checkering. I've found brushing a little boiled linseed oil into the raw wood of the lasered checkering (with an old toothbrush) seems to help it's appearance - and adds a little protection to the wood, while "bringing out the grain" beneath.

The regular "dot" patterning the laser leaves behind as a tell-tale ( somewhat like litho printing) is easily seen trough a 5x hand-held magnifier or loupe. Look at some hand cut checkering ( like on a 50 year old Belgian Browning ) with the same magnifier, you'll immediately see the difference.

I may of said that sometime, I may have not, I dont know

this rifle may see a McMillan stock next year too, who knows

for a practical hunting rifle, walnut isnt as good as laminate or fiberglass stocks. I dont get to pick and choose what days I go hunting anymore (stupid work  :p ) and since I yanked the scope off my 260, this 30-06 will see the remainder of my hunting time until the end of November, rain snow or shine. Hopefully it doesnt warp out of my hands :D

At least we will have some kindling on a late season deer hunt this year.;)

When you make away with the stock in the campfire... You can always throw on that nice Remington 710 stock you have in battle ship grey... BWAHAHAHA!!!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. CGN'ers still love you Bartell, even though your remington obsessed!!!
