I just bought a ruger deerstalker my new swamp stick should be in my possesion by next week, I was just wondering how to determine the date of production ? I was also wondering what to scope it with the terrain im gona hunt is very dense. So im thinking of either a red dot or a 1.5 to whatever scope any recomendations ?

Get a good set of iron sights or a low power scope.

Ok seems unanimous so far red dot out , low power scope in. my dad has a baush & lomb 1.5-6 hes not useing, ill try and buy it off him. I dont want to spend too much this gun is going to be used & i dont want to damage an expensive scope , like to spend 150-175 max.

That scope oughtta be perfect.
Also, in your price range, consider the Weaver V3 or K2. Low power, high quality. Not expensive.
