Today I was in Kamloops with time to waste, so of course I ended up in Wholesale Sports. It wasnt too busy, so I looked at several rifles and was underwhelmed. First off I like wood blue, and presently own six rifles in that configeration. The first was a Win. supergrade where the barrel channel was'nt even on both sides. Then a Kimber which was the same, next Browning X bolt, the same,Then a Sako Finnlite with plastic stock, same condition but you could move the stock to touch the barrel with finger pressure. Then the sales person asked if I would like to see a Cooper which I didnt know Wholesale carried. I have been drooling over them at Sako Alberta website. They brought a new in the box from the backroom. The barrel was centered but the safety was so stiff I put a hole in my thumb trying to operate it, on closer inspection it was broken and has to be shipped back. Maybe im too pickey but it seems quality control is not there or was I just having a bad day?

These people who complain about used guns being as high in the EE, as new guns, don't take into consideration the quality of many new guns.

The Coopers are one of the few new guns I would buy as the quality is top notch, unfortunately not all guns leave any factory without a slip up once in a while! My friends shop ordered in a Savage 22 mag bolt gun , the customer returned it saying it would not chamber! It left the factory without the chamber being reamed, thats a huge inspection problem! So don't judge to harshly Cooper for 1 broken saftey, and I am sure that Cooper being a small sucsessful company that actually listens to its customers will fix it free of charge! They are also one of the few companies that still do special orders as a regular service! Now thats a company that has taken lessons from Winchester when they were still a family owned buisness! Try to order something even a little differrent with any of the other gun companies!! I don't think so as the huge multi nationals own them and only care about profit over quality and customer satisfaction! It is nice to be treated as a valued customer in this political and economical climate!I also buy 90% vintage rifles and shotguns, but there are still a few exceptions, Cooper being one of them, I am saving my pennies to get a full blown custom 22 bolt with the works!Dale in T-Bay!!!
