New Rim X accuracy reports

The question asked is what can this rifle do. Not is it good enough for your use. Using ammo suited to the gun , what will it do day to day? How does it compare to the other two?

It's not clear whose use you are referring to. If it's for the general reader of this thread, it makes little sense. If it's in reference to me, it makes even less sense. I haven't commented on how the RimX shoots, except to say that with a custom barrel there's every reason to believe it ought to be capable of better accuracy than a Bergara with a factory barrel. If it's in reference to something else entirely then I apologize in advance for misunderstanding.

In response to an earlier question about accuracy reports, I posted a link from which some examples were posted. I suggested that the results were probably obtained with random lots. I don't know how the results were produced or whether they are atypical of RimX targets. I would expect that better lots of ammo will produce much better results, as they should for any good rifle. Random lots are literally hit and miss in their performance.

I quest what I mean is what will it do. Not it’s good enough for gophers. Is it a 1/4” or 1/2” at 50 gun. Not aimed at any one person, and definitely not you. I respect your views and abilities. AJ

My definition of real world use is feeding from a magazine and not 1 bullet at a time. And not from a bench with perfect stability etc. Not a battle of equipment spending $1000's to shave off .09 moa.

So it could be hunting, PRS, target shooting, plinking, whatever.

Even when I develope loads for centerfire when I get to half inch, good enough for me. I just go shoot. Very very few shooters are good enough to notice the difference in .2 moa at like 600-1000 yards and beyond. That .2 moa gets lost in all the noise of all the other factories that effect the shot.

I re-read my previous post and saw how "playing games" could come off a bit dickish, so my apologies if it did. Wasn't my intent.

The Bergara seems the obvious choice unless you're in the top 1% of shooters nationally, though I must admit it is nice to have nice things and both the
Rim-X and Vudoo look very nice. If you've got the money you'll never regret buying the best gear and much like it can't make you an elite shooter, it also doesn't make you worse.

I've never shot PRS but have shot in a fair number of target disciplines, mainly ISSF pistol and biathlon. I bought a Pardini SP/RF because I could without worrying about the money, but my scores didn't drastically change from when I was shooting a Hammerli, nor the FAS that preceded it. The top shooters could beat me with a stock Ruger Mk4, guaranteed. Same with Biathlon; I bought an Anschutz 1827 because I could without worry, not because it allowed to me to do anything beyond what I was doing with the Izhmash I entered the sport with. If finances are of concern stick with the equipment that gets you 99% of the performance at 50% cost and spend the rest on actually shooting. You'll be much further ahead.

For hunting as long as it shoots 1" @ 50yds it just doesn't matter. Rabbits and gophers can't tell the difference between a Cooey or Cooper in my experience.

No problem brother it's all good. Takes more than that to hurt my feelings haha.

I said to hell with it and bought a B14R Carbon yesterday. Just tested it out and it's good for .3-.6" 10 shot groups at 50 yards with Center X. Averaging about .45" which I'm happy with. And I'm a little rusty as I haven't shot near as much as normal this year. Bipod I used is a bit tall for my liking and I have to move my scope forward a bit to be able to fall asleep on the gun. I will get a chunk of rail under it so I can slap my Atalas on it. Trigger is great but i have no doubt an upgrade would shrink the groups. No doubt I can improve the groups.

And I know what you're saying about high end guns. I've done some matches the last couple years with my factory Bergara B14 in 308 and never placed worse than 4th against Cadex, AI, and custom rigs. Tied for first in points at my last match at CFB Petawawa last year with 189/200 points with a factory rifle. Got knocked to 2nd place because of 1 single X ring at 600 meters haha.

I shoot as much as I can at 900 meters at Connaght with a factory 6.5CM Bergara BMP and shoot better groups than many custom 7mm SAUM customs and other much more expensive rifles. No all of them and not every time. But I give them a run for their $ with an off the shelf rifle.

Not tooting my own horn. I'm nobody special and there are endless people far better than me. But I can get over done pretty good and I might even leave you in the dust with wayyyyy cheaper equipment. My optics are worth way more than my guns.

Congrats on the new purchase. It sounds promising.

I'm happy that none of the shooting I do outside of hunting allows optics...that seems like a rabbit hole that goes deeper than guns. Between scopes that cost more than my entire biathlon setup and the price of centrefire ammo I'd cry myself to sleep every night.

Much respect for people who can use open sights especially at different ranges. That I do not do lol.

My eyes suck and not getting any better with age. Dark backgrounds forget it. I own a lot of red dots now for close to medium targets.

I'm just out for fun. I think that's why I do ok as I don't give AF lol. I'm just excited to get a chance to shoot longer ranges and just enjoy the chance.
