New Rim X accuracy reports

I'm not looking for bench rest. A bench is my last choice for a place to shoot. A battle of equipment doesn't interest me.

I'm looking for real world use.

The Vudoo is very proven and very tempting. But man by the time you buy it and outfit it with a scope, trigger, stock etc it costs more than my 338LM haha.

Maybe I should give the Bergara a shot. I have an HMR in 308 already in the same stock that has done very well at matches in CFB Petawawa. It's ot the best but good enough and above average.

I also have the Bergara BMP in 6.5CM. I shot it alot at Connaught last year. Hit quite a few 3" sticky targets at 900M no problem. Extremely accurate factory gun.

If I grab that B14R people are going to call me fan boy and make fun of me haha.

But by the time you put a chassis, trigger, and barrel on a Bergara, you are at the same price as a Vudoo or RimX, and you still can't get mags for the Bergara.

I wouldn't put a barrel and trigger and chassis on the Bergara. That's pretty much the point of buying it. The chassis are very good already. Triggers and barrels are quite good and above average.

I have a Ruger Precision now that shoots pretty good. I'm just not a fan of the ergonomics and want something heavier. Anything in Rem 700 footprint is good for weight.

No RIMX available for several weeks unfortunately.

My b14 was incredibly accurate, most people here saw my groups. Probably the most accurate I have shot, or as accurate as my first cz 457 mtr. Yeah I know I’m going to get ripped on that one, but for my purposes the little bit of gain and the lack of magazines in Canada made me get rid of it. The magazine is the bergaras Achilles heel. Cheap plastic for $100

Yes, I'm sure, old boy.;) If you think the groups in the picture are good, then you should get a Bergara and be satisfied never knowing the difference between good groups and those on the target shown.

Of course, you might note that the suggested group sizes of KOD, who posted his paper plate targets on RFC and elsewhere, are just that -- suggestions. They appear larger than the sizes indicated.

As they say old bean, select the tool for the task. ;)
I've had my B14R since March and she shoots dandy for my use. I ain't shooting in PRS competition with the bugger as it's main mission is for gophers and other pest critters along with fun plinkin' on gongs out to 200 yds as well as alder pruning. The rifle could sure use a flush fit, single shot adaptor mag though. (Like the ones fer me CZ452's.) It's a hefty beasty that is a very nicely made & solid unit for the price. Smooth as a gravy sandwich in operation & affordable to many.

I like the Rim X action for it's easy interface with barrels. (No protruding extractors to cut notches for.) That makes these a natural for using the Brewer system
of barrel fitting like Savage & others to achieve easy headspacing for barrel swaps. The Bergara can be easily headspaced with the issue tube by using a shim
of different thickness than stock at the bolt body/bolt head junction for the OCD types out there that chase bughole groups on paper. Boring that be fer me.

The Vudoo is a neat layout as well for the PRS game plus, they be working on a single shot version for benchrest shooters. They offer different bolt heads on
their units to suit the hotter .17 RF chamberings they offer in a more sporting rifle type setup.

All of these new Rem 700 footprint rifles have merit for for the "new games" they be used for which is great for the shooting sports, but for folks like me,
the price point/performance ratio is a big factor.

You quote me in your post above and then counsel readers (and me) to "select the tool for the task." Our exchange was about the Bergara's relative accuracy. Now you've moved from that to say that the Bergara is good for gophers, plinking gongs up to 200 yards, and trimming trees -- the last of which is perhaps an unusual task for a rifle. The abandonment of the idea that the Bergara might be as accurate as the Vudoo or the RimX is ultimately sound, but no doubt the Bergara is a good-shooting rifle for its price.

On another note, you've referred to me in this thread as "laddie" and "old bean". The first time I thought you might have felt you were Scottish and I thought nothing of it and responded in kind. I shouldn't have done so as it seems to have encouraged you. While such terms are not in themselves pejorative, it appears you don't often use them elsewhere in your posts, which suggests otherwise. It would be appropriate to ask that in the future you don't use such terms with regard to me.

Yeah kinda makes me wonder. If it was that good you would think they would be eager to post results. And it would be the talk of the town.

I like the design of the action and I would think it must work good. But I don't want to spend thousands just to find out for myself.

If you're looking for RimX "accuracy" reports, take a look at this thread, which has pictures of targets. h t t p s ://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/zermatt-rimx-22lr-review-bartlein-benchmark-gm-krieger-lilja.6999116/page-3

Below are some of the 50 yard targets from that thread. There are more in the long thread. The shooter who started the thread was trying out different custom barrels. The size of the groups were probably at least the result of random lots.

Thanks for the effort brother

Crickey, that was a rather uppity, socialist university kinda response I reckon. Has a fair bit of Liberal attitude in 'er to boot. I be of English, Irish, Scottish blend with a wee dash of Spanish tossed in. Are ye some sort of pseudo intellectual info grabber & deceiver makin' out like yer the "uber shooter" guy or what.? Pretty fookin' weird.

As fer the choice between the Rim X, Vudoo and Bergara units, it all be up to the shooters to pick the unit that suits their desired pursuits. I went the Bergara
route for an affordable Rem 40XR type platform that I could enjoy, and I do.

You sound a bit unhinged. Of course that might be expected when you came to realize that you surrendered the Bergara accuracy argument in favour of using the rifle for plinking and tree trimming, but I suppose I shouldn't have pointed that out. You really didn't need to give up so completely because the Bergara is, by all accounts, a good rifle. It just can't be in the same league as similar rifles that use custom barrels and chambers.

But now you add to the disrespect by baselessly accusing me of being an uppity, socialist, educated, Liberal party supporting, pseudo intellectual "info grabber & deceiver" (whatever that is, but it doesn't sound good). There's probably only two kinds of people who do that.

The disrespect be earned by ye. Feel free to spew forth yer vast knowledge. f:P:

The disrespect be earned by ye.

How? By saying that you were mistaken in suggesting that the Bergara was the equal of the Vudoo or RimX? By asking that you don't refer to me in derogatory terms? I did say those things, but they were not meant to disrespect you. I said them because they are true.

If I used a word you were unused to, that shouldn't be grounds for accusing me of being those things you seem to hate -- socialist, educated, Liberal party supporters (and no doubt liberals, too). A lot of people may use words unfamiliar to you without being any of those things.

If I said something else that I haven't referred to that caused you to be so disrespectful, please say what it was. I would prefer to end this discussion in a cordial or civil way.
