New rimfire cartridge coming...

Agreed, this sounds fishy. It's a rimfire...a MPBR based on a 3-inch target would make a lot more real-world sense, but then that wouldn't sound as amazing, would it?

I'm not a computer guy and don't have or know how to use a ballistics calculator program, so maybe someone who does and can might answer me this: With an 8-inch target, what is the MPBR with a .17HMR? I'll bet it is close to 200 yards, no?

Well I got that far and laughed, but I do hope there's a new rimfire cartridge that doesn't suck like 22magnum
 
No mag limits sounds great, but in order for them to keep the price down I think that they are going to go with something smaller than .25 caliber. Pushing a .25cal to the speeds they seem to be hinting at would require a bigger case and more powder...more material, higher price, no?

If they go with a .19 or .20cal bullet, the whole cartridge can be smaller, using less brass, less powder, less lead, therefore less cost. Thoughts or comments?

MPBR for the 17 HMR is 253 yds, this is a 218 yd. zero, 8" target.

I think you and Jared.f are right. I'm thinking a mirror of pellet gun caliber choices seems to me to be a good start. .177 and .22 pellet rifles are common. I think its the EU that likes the .20 pellet rifle.

I'll put my money on the .20 cal.

One of the posters on the Alberta Outdoorsman forum claims its .22 calibre based on a article from the Outdoor Life web site.

Could not find any info on Winchesters web site.
