It's time to get a new rimfire, something for small game hunting, varminting and target shooting, I do most of my shooting at 50+ yrds. so want something pretty accurate, I am looking at a higher-quality rifle such as an Anschutz or something around there, I know there is also Brno (but I can't find english sites for either of these companies, would like to see pricing), what other high-end manufacturers are there? I want a very accurate rifle, action and caliber does not matter, am open to reccomendations. Also thinking of going the customized 10/22 route but I think going with a bolt-action would be a better idea, I am thinking an Anschutz or other higher-end rimfire would be about the same price after buying a 10/22 and upgrading everything........ Opinions?

EDIT: Forgot to add also open to high-power air rifles, was also looking at the Gamo Hunter Extreme (1600fps.) Anyone have one of these high-power air rifles, and how do they stack up against rimfires? Ammunition is alot cheaper, and with a .17 cal. pellet flying at that speed sounds like a decent hunting/varmint and target rifle.....

I got a 1416 Anschutz , clip feed, got sights, but a scope 6x - 20x or so is best for these accurate rifles. put a 4200 4.5 x 16 on mine, and its a hoot. Hit a fly @ 100 meters today at the range. :eek: :D First I figured it was a bullet hole, then it started to move :) well targets don't get any more fun than that. :D I rushed right down to check it out, fly guts around the hole , and legs. :cool:
The 10/22 has fans , never done anything for me , if it only was a better looking rifle. The T/C semi is nice looking. :)
 
I noticed that Elwood Epps has a Sako Finfire Heavy Barrel for sale. These are wicked accurate rifles. And one of the finest looking in my opinion. As for the english sites for the brno.....Try CZUSA. They should list the current 452 and 453 models.
 
In my opinion you'd have go spend a lot more money to get a rifle that shoots much better than a CZ 452 Varmint. They are sold by both Wholesale Sports and Russell sports. Install this trigger kit http://cz452.com/springkit.html to remove all creep and make the trigger as light as you want it, under $20 to your mailbox and it installs very easily.

I think you are better off with a rimfire... 50y is out of range for just about any air rifle.

How much $$ are you planning on "investing" in the rifle? CZ are pretty much the best deal around when it comes to accurate bolt action rifle.

One rifle that I am anxious to see is the new Browning T-Bolt... They look pretty nice.

If you want to have an idea on price, Whole sale sports have most of them listed... When ready to buy, I would check with some of our sponsor. You might get a better deal and will most certainly get better service!

If you get a rifle without sight... don't forget to save some $$ for a quality scope. To me, a $50 tasco looks kind of odd on a $600 rifle...

Thanks for the links, I am planning on spending around $500.00 for the rifle, so I think the best rifle for the money would probably be a CZ, I was looking at their rifles and I really like the look of the CZ 452 American, can anyone tell me how these rifles shoot accuracy-wise and the overall quality? What are the pros and cons? What model would you reccomend?

Got the American in 17 hmr, and its 1/2 minute @ 100 meter(Will shoot inside 1/2 inch), very rugged, strong rifle, does require a bit of messen with. I bedded the action, and floated the barrel . Trigger is heavy, but can be worked on , I like it the way it is, good way to learn how to follow through. :D
 
Levi Garrett that sounds like a pretty accurate rig, what accuracy would you expect out-of-the-box? I'm planning on either getting a .22lr and topping it off with either a 4x or 3-9x, or getting a .17HMR with either a tasco varmint 6-24x or tasco target 10-24x, but since I do 50/50 varminting and hunting, I can't decide on which caliber.....

Don't know, but the action was able to be shifted in the wood, I did not care for that , now its right, and I'm happy. :D Caliber, its a matter of what you like, the high power optics is a must for rimfire rifles that shoot tiny groups at 50-100 meters.
I like LR for the cost to shoot,and accuracy, I like 17 for the long range accuracy , and flat shooting,
I like 22 mag for the power inside 100 meters. :)
