Hi,

I just received my Marlin 925 today, and there's some grease on the bolt. Do I have to clean this off or is that there for lubrication? Do I need to disassemble the bolt?

The first thing I do with a new firearm is give it a thorough cleaning. I wouldn't go as far as to disassemble the bolt, I would just blow it out with some brake klean or similar product.
This is just a personal preference and I am a little on the obsessive side, you can just go ahead and start blasting if you prefer.

dont disassemble to bolt , clean the bore then go nutz! wipe off the grease they put on it and use gun oil. i have a 925 good gun for the price,
