I got my RPAL in the mail this morning, and finalized a deal on a pistol this evening.

It is a CZ SP-01 Shadow and its coming with a blade tech holster.

I want to get into IPSC shooting so will need a belt, and a mag pouch.

Any tips?

Any other tips on what I should pick up?

I'd chat with the guys in your IPSC group re springs Slide stop etc and favourite options you can even try.

Buy good quality equipment, cheap stuff is a pain in the butt, then you will end up buying the more expensive stuff anyway. In the end it's cheaper to buy quality. Plan on carrying atleast 4 mags per stage, if it's a long one sometimes you may need to start with a 5th from your pocket. I have 4 mag pouches and six mags total, never had any problems. You will get different opinions from others, I'm just saying what works for me. Most important..... Buy good stuff.

This is great advice. The same thing I say to all new shooters, it was a lesson I learned the hard and expensive way.
I would also add, try to shoot a club level match if you can. I have a buddy that got his license, was gung ho about joining IPSC, bought all CR speed gear, never got into it. Pretty good hit to his wallet for nothing.

It would be advisable to shoot a club match, take the BB course, then buy gear with the knowledge you gained in conjuction of seeing what others are running that will be a right fit for you.

Find a holster you are comfortable with and feels secure to begin with. I still use my blackhawk serpa holster.
I try to carry 6mags with me plus my load mag in pocket. Regardless of what I'm shooting. Usually at level 1 and 2 matches you wont use them all, but nice to have on hand.
Have a few belt clips to keep belt in place while reloading or drawing. I put one on either side of holster plus wherever i can fit them between mag holders.

But to start 5mags would do, keep the gear simple. Have fun and

Transfer initiated and waiting on the CFO.

Looking for a black badge course that is semi local to sign up for. The reading on the IPSC site for the BB course suggests 5+ mags and mag holders, so I guess that and a belt are first on the list.

Not sure what your local BB course prerequisites are, but one of the founders of IPSC Canada is in my area and the first thing on his list is:

TRAINING COURSE STUDENT CHECK LIST PREREQUISITES
1. BEFORE THE COURSE YOU SHOULD
1.1. be able to hit a 8.5"X 11" paper at 20m at your own time, with your pistol, 9/10 times

Since you're brand new to all this, I'd strongly suggest getting some handgun lessons or tips by someone who knows what they are doing before you take the BB course. It'll save you a ton of money in ammo! Quality videos are good, but there is nothing like having an expert eyeballing you and giving you advice if you want to get up to speed quickly.

Have fun!

I have signed up for my handgun safety course at my local range so that should get me introduced to some regulars around the pistol range. Ive been out with my brother in law a few times and was able to hit the target all 10 times, but Im not 100% on what the range was.

I have a kadet kit for the shadow so that will allow LOTS of trigger time with cheap ammo.

Super excited to start shooting.
