Was just cruising the Ruger website and was looking at their Bearcats:

As far as I can recall, these guns have been prohibited due to barrel length. Barrel length on the new ones appears to be 4.2" which translates to 106.6cm. Can this be verified by anyone as being correct ? Perhaps Ruger has changed their barrel lengths from 4" to 4.2" (as they seem to have done with some/all of their GP100 revolvers in that similar barrel length)

It is correct, though I doubt that Ruger had we Canucks in mind. California has similar bs legislaton concerning 4" barreled handguns and I expect they fear more mindless laws being initiated.

Honestly, I know they aren't doing this for us, but maybe they should think about it. Canada has the population of California, and far less restrictive laws for bringing guns into the country (compared to California). Once the guns are in, yeah Californians can do more with them, but making a Canada Legal gun, is a lot less cumbersome than California legal.

Ruger has said that the longer barrel lengths were specifically for Canadian shooters.

The only Cali laws like that I can find are laws that prevent the sale of "ultracompact handguns" in LA. These laws regulate the height and length of firearms, not barrel length, and they only apply to firearms sold in LA. One can still drive five minutes out, buy a small handgun, and come back with it.

New stainless and resticted. I think it was around 650 to 700 bucks. I bought the gp100 from them. Great bunch to deal with. AGE

AGE you might not be missing anything. Both my sweetums and I have Ruger Single-sixes, and neither will shoot magnum bullets accurately.

I have a Rough Rider and it wont shoot L/R accurately. The single-six or Bearcat will be my next purchase. I hope. AGE
