Got my new Ruger Mark III from P&D yesterday. Stripped and cleaned but can't get to the range until Sunday.

I ordered a Mk III from P & D earlier this week and I hope it shows up today so that I can try it out on the weekend. pdubois64, how did they ship your pistol? Canada Post?

Very Nice... Been toying with the idea of picking one up myself. I had a MkII Target way back when - which was sold off in a moment of weekness. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it? Also, what does the muzzle end look like? I recall the one I had having just a flat muzzle - with no countersunk crown...

Cheers,
hsld.

Congrats. And you even got it back together again!

It wasn't bad at all...I was expecting worse.

Yes Priority post. Paid on Saturday and it was here Tuesday. Can't believe how fast the registration was.

Yes it's flat on the end.

What are the MKIII's worth now?

$499

Looks like my Mark I, except yours is MUCH nicer. Love that chrome look. What is the difference between our guns?
You have a classic. Differences are mine has the bull barrel, and alot of safety features that many law suits against Ruger have forced them to incorporate such as an internal locking system that locks the safety with a special key, and a magazine safety that means a magazine needs to be in the gun to fire. The magazine release is also on the grip which I like.

Where did you get the Mark I?

I like the idea of having the release on the grip. Note to self...be extra carfull with gun.:)

It's rather unfortunate... My fiancee's uncle passed away and she was beneficiary of the estate. Needless to say I got the Mark I along with 4 other rifles.

Range Report

Just got back from the range. Put 200 rounds through and had 6 stovepipes. I think they were all on the same mag. I started using just the one mag and put through 80 rounds with no problems. I was using American Eagle hollow points 38 gr.

The gun seems to shoot pretty accurate. I was using NRA B-8 targets (7.5 inch) at 25 meters and managed to gets about 90% on the target with a few decent groups. I took about 1/3 of my shots resting on the bench and most seemed to hit low to the left. I would image that is from the recoil.

Can't wait to get out again.

Great purchase. I bought the same pistol only not in stainless. I would have bought the stainless one if it was in at the time. I've also found mine to be very accurate. It's a great shooter. Mine also prefers the 38 grain hollow American eagle. Although the 40 grain solids are decent too. I originally had a few stove pipes. But... that disapeared after shooting it a bit.

The only improvement I would suggest are Hogue grips. I've had mine on order with a local store for a while now. They're pretty slow.

By the way my black/blued version of this pistol is currently my most used firearm.

I think I will wait a bit before trying different ammo. Probably needs a few more rounds to break in. I have been looking at getting some Hogue grips, one of the reasons I didn't buy the 22/45.

Check with "Rustysdream" for a nifty clip loader for it. I just got mine and can't wait to try it out.

I will look into that also, thanks.

I bought my first 22 pistol last week from P&D (very quick service BTW) and had it down to the range on Saturday. I put 100 rounds of Federal Game Shoks and 50 rounds of CCI Stingers through it without any feeding / ejection problems. All in all a very fun little gun which I wish I would have picked up a long time ago.

P&D sure is quick....gotta love the Alberta CFO for a 1 day registration as well:) I have another 200 rounds of the AE left so if I get any more stovepipes I think I will try something else.

You're not kidding about fast transfers these days. Hopefully you find some ammo that your gun likes!
