NEW Ruger Mark IV one button takedown pistol.

Indeed. Mine goes well over 1000 rounds between cleanings.

Mark

Pre shortage, if lightly lubed mine used to go way, way over 1000 rounds, but ammo is dirtier now because only the crap tends to be available. One thing about taking it down and reassembling it all the time is that you don't forget the 15 or so tricks required in the process. And you develop a saintly patience for failure.

I think I'll buy one of those new Mark IV. I sold my Mark III because it was such a pain to take down.

I still have my first restricted, a used Ruger Mk I and remember the first time I took it down. That was before the internet and it didn't come with a manual. I had to send a letter to Sturm-Ruger and wait for for the delivery via snail mail. Nowadays, you can download manuals to your heart's content, lol. Once these new ones are in Canuckistan, I'm all over one. But still keeping my original :)

No ugly loaded chamber indicator? No huge warnings engraved into the entire length of the barrel? Maybe Ruger is starting to actually listen to their customers.

I agree, this is more important to me than the simpler disassembly. I was on my own with no manual or internet with my first one and figured it out just fine. Second one I bought new, and the guy behind the counter started to show me how to strip it. He was pretty happy when I told him I already had one and knew how.

One thing I worry about with the new design. Will the pivot trunnion remain tight after a few hundred thousand rounds? Or will it become loose like shotguns do when they ''break in''

I will add one of these to my stable regardless, but it is an interesting question since all my MKII's are as tight as the day they were made, and shoot ... well, like a MKII can shoot!

With some early reviews on RFC in the US.
The take down button/lug and locking mechanism seem well thought out and the issue of loose upper and lower (if there ever will be) might be a quick fix of just a single spring.

I'm proficient at field stripping the older Mark but this will for sure be a great improvement.

I'm going to get my hands on the target model.

Much more elegant a system than that cringe-worthy Designed By Bubba #14 bolt that S&W went with on the Victory.

###y looking pistol.

Won't trade my Mk-II for one - I've had it since I was 13.
