Just picked it up after work tonight, Jan 12/24. Feels good so far. Traded in my savage 11 in x39 as I felt this rifle was a overall better fit for me.

Rifle is in 7.62x39 and price was a bit over $900.
Scope is a Vortex Diamondback 2-8 PA.

Here are some observations.

I like the stock colour better than gen1. More borwn vs more sand coloured gen1. Stock also appears to be black polymer that has been painted brown, instead of being tan originally like gen1. Stock otherwise feels like gen1 stock. A bit too much forend flex.

I removed the cheek riser from the stock, found it was not needed for my scope set up, it clips on and off very easily, but holds tight when on.

No thread protector is included if you don't like the muzzle break.

I really like the bolt handle/knob. Was thinknig of replacing it, but see no reason to now.

No flaws in paint I can find, very smooth nice job.

Zipper sound from the gen1 isn’t present on this gun. Could be the ceracoat on the inside of receiver. I’ve been cycling it a bunch and it’s wearing the paint down/getting smoother.

Have yet to shoot it, but planning on running Chinese surplus through it.

A better dressed up girl from the meager 5 on gen 1 to an impressive 8. I wonder how the muzzle brake performs and sounds. A thread protector is pennies on aliexpress.

Grouped 1” at 100 yards yesterday with hornady black sst and slightly over an inch with federal power shock sp.

About 2-3 Moa with Chinese surplus ammo.

All ammo functioned perfectly. No issues whatsoever and fired about 150 rounds yesterday.

Weather was -15 and cloudy and snowing.

I’m very happy with the results and the rifle fits perfectly what I want it to do.

Nice! Sounds like you got a decent shooter.... :)

How is the bolt tolerances compared to Gen 1?

They stopped feeding the lathe at .015 ipr on the finish pass on this model!

I would like better photos. It looks more coherent without a cheek riser - it didn't even seem optional so far. Their design for this sucked. I got my Ruger Predator for $525 shipped to my door and it shoots MOA at took 2 deer and a bear since I got it. I love it, for what it is. Not a fan of the magazine and will have to eventually replace it.
