I'm curious, the 358 Win is a great caliber, but I'm thinking going the same route, only re-boring and chambering to 350 RM for a little more umph! What's the consensus????
Certainly more zip, but for my use and needs I'm comfortable with the 358.

What twist does he offer in 35cal?So, just got my Ruger Gunsite scout back from Ron Smith. He rebored it to 358 Winchester. He is a true professional. It was a few month wait to get him to take it and 4 months for the work to be done.
I wanted 1/11 but Ron would only do a 1/12. I'm happy with that. I've heard that some 1/14 have a hard time with heavier bullets. I haven't shot it yet but I hope to next week! I don't plan on shooting 250's or 275's. I'll take my 338 if I want to shoot them

Thanks ....... My former 7600 35Whelens with 1;16" twist would shoot 250gr Speers very well.I wanted 1/11 but Ron would only do a 1/12. I'm happy with that. Any pics of how he restamped the chambering? So, just got my Ruger Gunsite scout back from Ron Smith. He rebored it to 358 Winchester.
Nice rifle. Where did you find the 1.5-4 scout scope? I've got 2 of the fixed 2.5 cause I couldn't find a variable anywhere.
