'New' S&W Nickel Model 29

[41 Colt]

Just picked it up. Circa 1978 model 29-2, 8 3/8" barrel in Nickel plate. This was previously owned by an older gentleman who used to shoot at Langley Rod & Gun. He passed away and his large collection is being sold by a couple members there. I remember when he once brought this, I drooled over it.

It barely fit in my case to get it home, now to see if it will fit in my safe....

Glad you guys like it. It won't fit 'properly' in my safe on my homemade pistol rack, I have to lay it on it's side with the barrel sitting under a couple other guns that fit in the rack.

I'll take it out this week, I emailed pics to my Dad and he wants to come and try it out too.

My nickle 29 has a 4" barrel and smooth target stocks on it. Just gotta love those BBQ guns. - dan

Do they come with a trailer hitch, or do you have get an after-market one?

Very nice. Should be very accurate with the 8 3/8" barrel. I know my 629 with 6 1/2" is.

My Dad and I took it out today. Was a monster to shoot compared to the two 9mm I brought as well. Had a strange problem with some brass getting stuck in the chambers though.

I also found that my 8" 3/4 recoils a lot more than the 5" both with factory .44 mag loads.

In a way it is too bad they don't still market this finish. The lock-work on mine, a 6.5", was much slicker than any blued or stainless gun I've owned or handled since.
