New Sako Ranger rifles

I sure hope they make the same rifle availlable to us non ranger folk hehehe
That said, I wonder how one joins the rangers? I think a saw a building out near me with their badging. Is thier a detachment or unit or whatevertheycallit in 100 mile house BC? Not really the "north" though so maybe I'm mistaken. LOL google here I come

**EDIT ---> there is indeed, 100 mile house has a ranger patrol. Gonna check it out ;)

you go in and ask for a application package.
go home, fill in the blanks, bring back in and give it to them.
depending on how they are for manpower you'll either get a "welcome!" or a "we will call ya when we need more manpower"

I have been looking at their sights, they seem well made. The rifle is in .338 win mag so I am concerned about the weaver base mounted peep holding up to recoil.

As far as I know no one manufactures a ready to go Tikka reciever peep, I talked with a manufacturer out of the states about one but he has gone incommunicado sadly, his quoted price was very reasonable.

They are out my price range anyways, but most things are at this point.

I am not keen on paying american dollars or exorbitant shipping fees ala boyds.

Conor... send me your address, I'll generously donate a Tikka T3 fibre optic front sight. My next build is going to be a while down the road, and I see you need one more than I. I don't have a receiver peep sight or an extra factory T3 Battue rear sight, but I highly suggest you find one -- they're excellent. You'll require a competent gunsmith to drill and tap the barrel to mount the front sight -- don't waste your time trying to do it yourself (too easy to f*** up). You'll also need to supply your own short screws with a thread pitch of your choice. The factory thread pitch is super fine.

New England Custom Guns. NECG. They ship to Canada.

They ship to Canada? Sort of....

I wanted to order a partridge front sight insert for a Ruger No. 1 from NECG. It costs $42. ($55. Canadian) Okay, no real problem except shipping to me in Canada is an additional $50. ($65.32 Canadian) for two ounces?

$65. to put a two ounce sight in a padded envelope?

With the Canadian dollar worth only 75 cents these days, that front sight blade would cost me just over $120.

Crazy. Not happening.

Then I guess you can go without, I've got mine. What would you pay for a scope that essentially fulfills the same purpose? That said the low Canadian dollar presents an opportunity for Canadian manufacturers who are interested in manufacturing high quality shooting related products.

I can easily go without because I sold the Ruger...simple solution.

But by the way, a Skinner peep sight (made in USA) for the same rifle cost $14. (US) for shipping. There is no reason for NECG to charge that much for shipping.

I stopped trying to deal with them for the same reason, except the price seems to have gone up. When I last tried to order the minimum shipping charge was $40 to Canada, no matter how small the item.
