I broke down and bought a Sako TRG 22 20" Stealth a month ago, and I promised a friend I'd post a pic. I guess I just wanted a precision rig, that was a 1/2" shooter with any match ammo, and did not require tedious reloading experimentation. Also, I did not want to sit on a six month, "Just be thankful I'm building this for you," custom rifle list.

All I can say is I'm extremely impressed with this gun. Why I wasted my time and money on customizing Rem 700's for so long is beyond me. Its a one hole gun at 100 yds with match ammo and holds 1/2" MOA out to 300 yds, which is the maximum distance at my range. Its also lighter that a Rem 700 with an AICS stock. I did not really like how the Sako rail sits forward on the new TRG's, but all you have to do is move the scope back a bit.

I know there are a lot of experienced TRG owners on CGN, who will be like, "Tell me something I don't know," but this is one gun that really lives up to its hype. Its just straight up, consistent.

P&D in Edmonton. I'm not sure if they have any more. I gotta say that I like the 20" barrel, for balace and maneuverability. Can't see why you would want a 26" barrel unless you are shooting way out there on a regular basis.

I have the Stealth with a 26" tube and this year picked up the 20" version in the Desert Tan clothing - I have to agree that the 20" is a really sweet package. I've yet to hear of a TRG that doesn't shoot outstandingly well.

A fine looking firearm! Congratulations!

Would you recommend this as a first "precision" rifle for medium to long distance shooting (500 to a 1000m) ?

Not a stranger to firearms or bolt actions, but a little lost on the price/performance ratio on offer with these precision rigs and seeing the accuracy, this rifle appears to compete well with the much higher priced "custom" rifles. Thoughts ?

Which Nightforce scope are you running? As I'm patiently waiting for my trg-22 to arrive, I'm still trying to decide between the 5.5-22x50 or 56. I can't wait to shoot it.

Fwiw, the medium height factory rings are not high enough for the 56, they are perfect for the 50. I would go with the 50, as it keeps the scope slightly lower.

Some one mentioned getting a tikka tactical instead. They use the same barrel as the trg. For accuracy the tikka is better value than the trg. There are many reasons to buy a trg over a tikka tactical, however the paper may never be able to tell the difference.
