New Sako TRG 22 20" Stealth!

A fine looking firearm! Congratulations!

Would you recommend this as a first "precision" rifle for medium to long distance shooting (500 to a 1000m) ?

Not a stranger to firearms or bolt actions, but a little lost on the price/performance ratio on offer with these precision rigs and seeing the accuracy, this rifle appears to compete well with the much higher priced "custom" rifles. Thoughts ?

The Sako TRG22 26" barrel is one of the best factory F-TR rifles at a "reasonable" price.
These rifles are true 1/2 MOA but competitive F-Class shooters need 1/3 - 1/4 MOA accuracy to win.

Why are you assuming that "F-Class" is even relevant here? No one mentioned competitive use.

At the distances he's talking with a .308 Winchester, I'd place more weight on his skill as a shooter and his ability to read wind conditions than the actual rifle itself.

Hi, I have a question for you: how does your need TRG22 compares to your short Remington 700 5R?
I'd love to know you opinion and experience on this.

Alex

I sold my Rem 5R to help pay fo the TRG. I'd say my 5R was capable of similiar accuracy with the right load. Of course that was after a lot of coin, and since I never really put it work at long range, I guess I'll never really know for sure. The TRG is lighter by a couple pounds and the action is far more bomb proof and slick. The trigger is also completely amazing, and the whole gun is adjustable in every way. The TRG also shoots very well with any ammunition.

Smart choice getting the TRG22 either in 26" or 20" is a winner.
That black color TRG22 in 20" look very sharp, if I were you, keep the stock, I think is much nice than the Green, blue or Tan.
