I just ordered up a brand new Desert Tan Trg42 in .338 Lapua and I go on Sako's website and discover a NEW Trg debuts in mere days!

I wouldn't worry about it - I 100% guarantee it won't diminish your enjoyment of the one you have ordered. BTW - Desert Tan is cool - my 20" TRG 22 is in that colour and its pretty sharp.

You're right, It just means I'll have to add the "new" TRG to my 22 & 42

I don't see how a new platform would diminish the enjoyment of the rifle you wanted in the first place. Enjoy your new TRG42! It's a great shooter and a fine quality rifle.

I speculate that the "new" rifle will be nothing more than the existing barrelled action mounted into a modular chassis of some sort. Seems to be the way the "tacticool" bolt gun crowd is leaning these days. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sako is wanting to capitalize on that.

It would be disappointing if thats all they change. Trg is a great rifle but to just offer a new stock option would be better vs hyping up a new rifle only to have stock changed.

According to the military rep for Canada, this will not be in the hands of the commercial user anytime soon, they have gone after the SF end users very aggressively.
