New Sask land access rules

It would be great if the new access rules had some actual penalties behind them. Realistically if someone is trespassing all that’s gonna happen might be a polite warning from a CO or RCMP about asking for permission. We’ve had a lot of problems with hunters driving through our fields to make a lap around every slough or patch of trees to try and flush out deer or moose. Found plenty of tracks in my barley fields this year before I got to them with the combine. At one point we had a hunter flag down my dad in the combine and he wanted us to shut down harvest so he could shoot an antelope that was in our field. He got all pouty when we refused.

And yes I do hunt myself. I’m just respectful enough to stick to land I own, my family owns, or land I know I have permission to be on.

Is your land posted?

Funny, where hunt in Saskatchewan no one gives a dusty #### if you are on their field once the crop is off. That's always been the key...crop being off. Guys that don't want you on their land post it, guys that don't care don't post it. Not sure about other areas, but where I hunt this is just something to make life more difficult for everyone.

Same way here. This law change was brought about by a few little men at the SARM convention who felt they were being disrespected.

SERM just needs to change the rules....

Everything should be draw.(Except for W.T & Bear)

An application should be $20/each species..

Once your drawn for one species be it Elk, Moose, Mule Deer or Antelope.....your application is cancelled for all other species.

None needs to get more than an Elk or Moose combined with a WT deer.

Some hunters take Elk, Moose and Deer.

It's not necessary!

That would cut down on the amount of hunters while keeping revenues....and provide more opportunities for hunters to select a species and just hunt it.

Or we could just end the hunting permanently because that is the direction those types of changes would foster.

It's quite a simple solution really.

Private land is only to be hunted by the owner or direct family or invitation only.

It's privately owned for a reason.

Either you buy land to hunt on or stay the F off, there is plenty of crown land , many hunters are just notoriously lazy.

Caught on private land either hunting or "looking around" loss of hunting privileges permanently as well as property related to the act.

I know I'm not allowed in my neighbors house to raid the fridge, why is it so hard for people to grasp the concept of private land ownership?

Not yours? Stay off.

SERIOUSLY?!! Between your sasquatch threads and now this I am starting to think you are the big R word that's politically incorrect nowadays. There is zero wrong with obtaining permission to hunt private land. I hunt lots of it. The people who say no I give a polite thank you too as well and continue on my way looking elsewhere. Your idea that only a landowner should be allowed to hunt his land sounds like it stems from China or Russia. If I didn't know better I'd swear you fell out of a treestand and hit your head but there isn't a tree big enough around PA for a treeetand or to hide a sasaquatch!!

Do you mind if I come to your place and use your BBQ , suntan on your lawn and bang your wife without your knowledge?

Private means just that , private.

P.S. - I'm not even a land owner.

I think his beef is with you saying family or by invitation only, which would preclude anyone from asking for permission.

I'd feel like a total #### asking someone if I could hunt their land, I guess this is a sentiment most don't share, likely of the mindset of today's entitled society maybe.

I just think people should stay in their lane.People will invite others to join them or hunt sure, these are people close to your circle anyways but IMO it is a total ass hole move to go ask to use the resources that you had no part in building or acquiring.

If you want private hunting land go buy, if can't afford, hunt crown.Life isn't fair, deal with it.

Why?

I would rather just apply and hunt an Elk or Moose on crown land and not trip over 2000 other guys?

It's going to be all draw soon enough anyway.

25 or 50 tags....?

People need to stop "pigging out".

I heard around Hudson Bay this Regular Moose it was a JOKE.

1000 hunters, campers on every approach.

Quads and Side by sides everywhere.

Maybe we should BAN ATVs except for retrieval of game?

Better yet ban ATVs all together for hunting....

They are already enroute to most of those actions.

Mindset of todays entitled society? Gimme a break. Asking permission to hunt private property is something that has been going on for decades, long before the millennials were even born!

If you don't want to ask permission thats fine, don't. But its a very normal thing that happens every day across the country, and many people are more than happy to share with others who don't have their own land. In Canada this is less of an issue, because generally speaking we have large swaths of crown land to hunt, but in many states its the exact opposite. If it wasn't for asking for permission, you'd be hard pressed to hunt in most of the eastern states, nevermind Texas where 97% of land is privately held.

Besides, if people should stay in their lane, what are you doing #####ing about private property when you don't even own any?

Better yet ban ATVs all together for hunting....

As someone too poor to afford an ATV, I would be all for this! But I'd rather they institute vehicle restricted zones rather than ban them outright, because that would likely take away the only opportunity some people who are less physically capable have. The USA has designated Wilderness Areas, which do not allow mechanized transport. I would love to see something like that set up in Canada.

How would it reduce the number of hunters if the number of tags stayed the same?

Because it ain't right what is happening to privately owned land and I know MANY who are complaining about not having free reign on private land because of the new laws, like WTF , it isn't yours to begin with.

What ain't right? The fact that people have the audacity to ask permission to hunt on land they don't own?

I agree that complaining about not having free reign on private property is stupid. But then again, so is making a big stink about asking permission.
