New Savage 110 rifles

If you can afford to hold off and save a bit more $$ I think you would be better off.
Had 1 and too many issues, unless you need something now save up and buy something better to start with.

JMHO

I have had great luck with sub 700$ Savages.
As in 3/4 moa 5 shot groups out of the box, and then have a fun receiver to build on.
Are these savage 110s worst than the previous savage 10s?

My axis is sub moa all day long... not sure I'd drop $900 though, can get a used model 110 for barely more than half that...

Marty I'm not sure what an MDT chassis and Savage action is worth, but what about buying a nice gen 1 Stealth? Sell off the new barrel, ( not sure how much they go for ) and put it towards a custom barrel and a rear stock of your choice.

The new 110 looks pretty good, still has the same footprint I think Savage for the most part just got away from the top and bottom bolt release with this generation of rifles.

Lead Hammer, already have an ESS chassis inletted for savage SA. The ergonomics of my ESS make me find any other stock uncomfortable now, the ESS has made me a picky man.
This gen of savage seems nice.
I could see one lying in the safe for a ''light'' gun with a beefy barrel, and if a project comes to life I love the savage barrel system.

buji88, I like the fact they kept the big 10TR bolt handle but did away with bottom release.
Factory 20 moa rail is about time they did this too.

I am far from decided of getting one, as if I get one it's just for a spare gun in the safe. No rush to settle either, more of just an option among others if I should get a bonus.
When I started, would of been happier with this offering over the 10TR to build up on.

Like the gun choice but not the caliber!!

Here was my logic.
As a spare gun, an unfired 6.5CM savage pre fit barrel would be the easiest to resell at the best price also, since 6.5cm is really popular.

Currently have an ultimatum action on its way to my home, which will be in an ess with an ibi .308 barrel.
Next year, the ultimatum will have a 6.5x47 lapua threaded in, and the 308 barrel would transfer on the savage

6.5cm is popular, but would the guys who are into it have any interest in a factory savage barrel? I would have figured they would tend to spend the extra $$ on a brand name aftermarket barrel if they wanted a barrel?

Guys that initially bought a savage on a budget and cannot afford to mod it?
My factory 10TR 308 barrel did not survive 24 hours on the EE, much cheaper than custom
Looking at something like 200$ vs 600$ For factory vs custom

My factory Savage barrel shoots very well for me, ( 1/2" gun at 100, best was 4 shot 3/8" ) it does copper foul a bit easier than I would like it too but can still get 70 rounds out of it before I give it a cleaning. Heck I would take a new Stealth take off barrel for $200. 6.5 or 308. Throw it in the safe. Although a custom barrel would be the next to go on!!

Oh im sure someone would buy it, I'm just questioning if the 6.5 would be any easier to sell than say a 308. I feel like the guys on the 6.5 hype train would be more inclined to buy a custom barrel than the average user... I could be wrong though, either way the barrel will sell the only question is for how much...
