New Savage 338 Lapua!!!

Well looks like a coincidence or a bad batch!
Buddy sent his 338 Lapua back and cabelas replaced the rifle with another of the same model. He fired two rounds of Hornady factory ammo and lucky he had his cleaning rod with him. Same problem as the first rifle, it will not extract fired cases and had to be tapped out with some force yet again with the cleaning rod!
Who says lightening doesn't strike twice.
I think he is swearing off of Savage rifles.

Well its a good thing your buddy is finding all the bad Savages. Sure savage isn't perfect but any other company will have the same sort of problems.

I'm happy with all my Savages. They shoot really well.

Interested in hearing about the final resolution to this one.

They all have hiccups, a couple weeks ago a new proed owner of a remington vtr was at the range, closed the bolt and dry fired a couple times, loaded factory ammo and the bolt would not close. Turns out there was to little headspace, called WSS and was told that he had to go through remingtons warranty center, a fail on both in my books.

Hek new cars all have the same hickups, sometimes its just luck of the draw.

Dealing with WSS is always a sucide mission.

I might have to look into one of these next year. The .338sin is interesting also.

I just bought one from Juanvaldez.

We have only been using Lapua brass and it fires flawlessly. Need a decent scope before I can do any range work. Just firing it was a blast. Loud but a very soft recoil. It and my custom Juanvaldez built 338 Edge are now fight for who gets to go to the range next.

Probably will be both of them.
