New Savage Lightweight Hunter

handled one at cabelas in wpg, I was really impressed. really light, fit me well, and I thought the wood was amazing for the price. a sharp looking rifle for sure. pretty sure the one they had there was a 6.5-284

if I hadnt just been on a bit of a lightweight rifle binge lately, that thing probably would have been coming home with me.

definitely the nicest stock I have seen on a savage yet. in my opinion

Does it have a hinged floorplate or a detachable magazine? Cabela's website is saying floorplate, Savage website is saying detachable magazine.

Have one on order in 6.5 Creedmoor for chasing goats.

However I just bought a Parker Hale 1100 in 6.5x55 which weighs in at 6.5lbs... is the creedmoor redundant. And is shaving that extra pound worth it?

Wouldn't one in 250 Savage with a 1:10" twist be sweet!

Ted

It would but they only offer it in two models these days and thats not one of them, maybe next year Ted.

Went and ordered an American Classic in 250 just last week, the gunshop said it's gonna take a minimum of 11 weeks just to hit Canada.

Barrel break in and .886 three shot grouping on 44G of RL19 and 154G Hornady SSTs. Another sub MOA grouping with 46G of RL19. This during the barrel break in. And what's wrong with that? And I do like the bolt.

This one is in 7mm08, fair bit of recoil. For use as a hunting rifle, recoil doesn't mean a whole lot. For firing all day at the range, then yes, I guess it would matter.

show us targets and pics of the set up. bases and rings are all tight?

Tried two quality scopes, lock tighted the bases, threw the targets in the garbage, couldn't believe I just spent a grand on this
very picky with factory ammo, after I bought it I read the review a member did on here, his was one day, over a month I had the same results, not impressive.
Already upgraded to a Tikka,:) , will work with this one for my son
Not saying it won't shoot, just not out of the box with factory ammo, at least not mine,
Like the weight, the bolt I'm concerned with snow, pine needles in the timber. Will buy a savage again, maybe..
