New Savage MK II and Nikon P Rimfire scope, weaver rings do not appear to sit right

I recently purchased a Mark II BV with a Nikon P-Rimfire, and am having a hassle getting the scope on correctly.

I have 3 sets of weaver rings and none of them appear to attach to the weaver bases that were included from factory on the rifle.

The rings do not seem to grab the bases properly as the bases to not come to a point rather they have a bevel on them and it seems the rings are unable to grab onto them properly. It really feels like they would get ripped off if knocked or bumped wrong when handling it or shooting. Photos below of the mounts and of the rings on the mounts.
Do I simply have the wrong rings? How does one ensure they have the correct weaver rings for this base? Or did savage put some kind of oddball base that nobody can use?

I had the same problem, I tried a number of different rings and ended up putting weaver rings (quick detach) on and they fit perfectly.

I ordered #16 bases to replace the factory ones so I could use the quad lock rings on it.
But I would be interested in knowing which quick detach rings you did use that fit these factory bases. Do you know what model the rings were or where they came from?

I could be mistaken, but I think that bases on my Savage Mark II TR aren't really Weaver-type, but perhaps Picatinny, which are just different enough from Weaver to make it ugly to mount Weaver rings. I had tried Weaver-branded rings and wasn't comfortable with the fit either. So I went to Wholesale sports with my rifle and they ended up putting on Burris Zee rings. They work great:

I am away from home and cannot double check the manual but I believe the manual says Weaver mounts. As well as

http://www.cabelas.ca/product/4989/savage-mark-ii-bv-bolt-action-rifle-w-accutrigger
From Cabelas "Weaver bases installed for scope mounting."

Do your mounts look the same as mine? And the Zee rings are able to grab that "blunter" point on the ring mount base?

I have a true weaver base on my 10/22 (not OEM, it's a Leupold) and the profile is different from whatever it is that Savage put on the Mark II as OEM. A true Weaver base is a lower profile than Picatinny, however the Burris Zee rings still seem to grab the Savage bases much better than any other Weaver style ring I tried. They completely enclose the bases, going even over the "blunter" part on the sides. The only thing which would work better would be a true picatinny-style ring.

And yes, my bases look exactly like yours.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why savage put these seemingly modified bases instead of a proper weaver base as said in their documentation. I cannot imagine we are the only ones that have had this problem.
