I did not expect this at all! I’m wondering if they converted existing 64 stock to make these. The barrel looks blued. Savage, from what I have seen, has not used traditional bluing on rimfire barrels for a few years.

Looks good. Does the barrel attach with a small wrench like the papoose?

Judging by the giant knurled piece at the chamber end of the barrel, I would guess it's a tool free design. That is pure speculation though.

I do need a semi auto 22lr, I'm not sure this will sway me away from a Marlin though...

That case looks interesting, would fit a Browning SA22 quite nicely, available separately?:

Check out the cases that Skinner sells, the flat takedown is available in different lengths(2" increments starting at 20" up to 28") and would be ideal.

I bought a brand new Savage 64 at Canadian Tire this spring and it's got a blued finish. Not sure how long it sat in the store of course.

Not sure if I'd pay double to be able to take the barrel off, it seems like I can't get through a 10rd magazine without a jam.

The sharp-edged, pot metal mag and stiff mag release are the downfall of this design. The gun is a pain to load, both literally and figuratively. And that's a shame, as it would have otherwise been a decent little rifle.
