Hey everyone i am looking at getting a new scope for my .243 savage axis, Right now i have a 3x9x40 on it and i am looking for something more powerful to reach out and hit those coyotes a couple hundred yards away. VENOM HI GRADE 4-16X50 AE SF is something i was wondering if anyone has has had any experience with this scope as i can get it for 50% off at $269 right now. looking to stay under the $500 mark and any suggestions could help.

Thanks for the info in advance

$300 with taxes in for a cheap scope?
Dunnoh, I sure wouldn't try my luck with that amount of $$$.
Better of in the EE used for something used in better quality.

What he said! Redfield, Vortex, and some others all come with the "no-questions-asked" lifetime warranty. I have both and they are excellent for the money. I picked them up off the EE and saved quite a few dollars on good optics. Most of us, myself included, have upgraded our optics from time to time and sold the old good ones for less than market value for various reasons.

The cheapest way to buy optics is to do it right the first time. Don't do that though; theres no reason why you should be smarter than tbe rest of us that had to learn it the hard way. Thanks in advance for sparing our feelings.

Not to discourage you from getting nicer glass, but a coyote within a "couple hundred yards" should be pretty doable with a 3 to 9 power scope on a .243. Not so sure that more magnification is your solution?? Try putting a bunch of clay pigeons out at the 200 yard mark - you should be able to bust them pretty easily, even with a fixed 4 power.

Find a Leupold spend a couple extra bucks
it will save you 3-4 hundred dollars when you buy another scope.
in other words - buy a leupold even if it costs you an extra hundred.
you'll likely not buy another scope for years and years
don't wast your $$ on cheap imports and hype

Thanks for the info on everything i was thinking of the vortex line, I hear that they are cheap and worth every penny. I saw these scorpion scopes on for half off and thought there may be some input out there and im glad i asked lol. Im not worried about spending the money its just trying to get the best bang for my buck, However i do not want to get "STUNG"

Its not to bad at 150/200 yards, its just a straight crosshair, Im looking for something that has yardage drops in it so i can reach out when i see those yotes at 400 plus yards. I am getting into shooting more distance and my cheap pentax 3x9 isnt doing it, Can i reach 200 and shoot, Yes all day long but i am looking for something to reach out that extra distance and have it be nice and clear, I am starting to hunt hydro lines and have that distance to shoot when it comes to it, Slowly i will continue to move further out and hope to be shooting 4/500 yards without issues.

The newer Vortex Diamondback FFP Tactical scopes are maybe an option for you in the $500 range. Pretty darn good glass. I imagine the turret tracking is not the greatest at $500. But you can just zero the gun and leave the turrets alone using the reticle for elevation.
