If I go with the Sightron SIII 10-50x60 what rings would y'all recommend?
I have a Savage 10fcp-k in .308 accutrigger, accustock.
I currently have a Bushnell 3200 tactical 5-15x40 mounted in Burris XTR low rings.
I'd like to keep the new scope as low as possible and I like the XTR rings.
The Sightron has a 30mm tube vs. the 1" tube now so I'll obviously need new rings.
I guess my main question is what height rings will I need in the XTR 30mm?
The current clearance between the front of the Bushnell and the barrel is approx. 5mm. See pics.
If I do a quick calc, in my head I'm thinking that the difference between the 40mm Bushnell and 60mm Sightron is 20mm, that's 10mm more per side. I have 5mm clearance now so the new rings would have to be 5mm higher for this just to work. From the Burris website, it looks like the mediums are 1/4" (6.35mm) taller than the lows so I'm thinking medium might be ok. Does that make sense or am I completely wacked?
