New Scope... What to get?

So I've got a Savage .17HMR 93R17BTVS http://www.savagearms.com/93r17BTVS.htm

I have a Tasco "Target Varmint" 6-24x42 and it's a piece of ####. I got it from wholesale sports and since I'm going to Kamloops on Friday I'm going to return it and get a new scope. The thing is, I don't know what to get. I paid about $100 for that steaming pile so I'm thinking I should probably spend about $300 total for a good scope for my varmint gun.

What should I get?

Hmmmm sounds like a new starwars movie. Made in the UK eh? Well I actually want to keep the cost under $400 after gub'mint. The look like nice scopes though, I'll keep em in mind for my high-power jobies.
 
I just got myself an Elite 3200 5-15x40 Tactical and it's very nice for the price. Target turrets, AO, clear glass, mil-dot reticle (which I like.. it's not for everyone). I believe there's a similar model without the turrets and with a duplex. I'm pretty happy, using it to shoot out to 300 with a .22-250.

What did you pay for it and where did you get it?
 
A leupold would be nice.

A friend of mine is looking into selling a VX-I 2x7x28. its a great scope for gophering- have one on my ruger 10/22
 
I must say either Mueller APV (have one on my 10/22) or if you can swing it, a falcon menace.

I have two of them, and they are NICE.

Hey, Thanks guys! that APV looks PERFECT! It's a good scope you say? That Falcon is a cool lookin scope but I'll probably save a purchase like that for a heavy barreled, synthetic stocked .308 or .30-06
