Well I finally got the scope for my new to me M14. Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42. I am brand new to these rifles, so I decided to buy a pre-built one. Anything special I should know about this thing (im more of a pistol guy). Here is what it has for parts:
AKM Stock
Springfield armory Scout Squad muzzle brake
Dlask M14 ADJUSTABLE GAS LOCK
Dlask quick detach Rear Sling Mount
Tactical Link Picatinny Rail Sling Mount, GEN 1
M14.CA scope mount
Ergo Grip in FDE
Magpul CTR in FDE with enhanced Buttpad

I will be putting on a Harris bipod as soon as the picatinny adapter comes in the mail.

I am kind of wondering about the 'adjustable gas lock". What does that mean exactly? Oh and here are a couple pics:

Looks awesome but I have a question? Don't take it as criticism but an honest questions.

Why use a high QD mount like a PEPR on a gun that has the irons removed as per the CASM genII?

I would think a lower permanent mount might be a lot better for cheek weld and ergonomics let alone cost?

Awesome rig regardless of the question.

Its because I have no idea what im doing lol. And I've had this on an CQ before and liked it. Hate dealing with rings. What do you think is a good mount? Amazon will return anything lol

For myself i'd be more inclined to use normal rings as you've already got a 1 piece mount under it. I've got mine set up on Burris signature zee's as i find they hold well with the inserts for a semi auto that has a backwards and forwards impulse on recoil.

Just my opinion and everyone will have one, but so far those rings have worked for me on everything i've got and would be quite a bit lower for a better cheek weld.

went through about 3 sets of those when i had a savage BA a while back. won't touch them again..I think I am a one piece mount guy...

what about two of these?

Might still need a cheek riser on the CTR to get a cheek weld but it's gonna be a world closer than the PEPR.

The reason that PEPR works on a CQ is because the comb is going to be inline with the bore bringing the sight line much higher. If you look at the pictures you can see that the comb sits quite a bit lower than the bore making for a lot more of a reach so unless you have a very abnormally shaped head it's going to be more of a chin weld than a cheek weld.

Or these, the low version. Same price since this is a two pack.
