new setup windage prob?

Okay, I just got a new Winchester mod.70 extreme weather 300 win mag with a leupold vx II 3-9 50 with pwr medium rings mounted on weaver47m and 402m bases. When I sighted it in at the range I had to crank the windage all the way to the left to get it centered!? I have two or three clicks left till it's maxed. The stuff was all mounted at wholesale sports in langley and the guy seemed to know what he was doing. he said it was bore sighted. Is there something wrong or should I just leave it as it's centered now. I didn't think it should be that off! Any advice would be appreciated .

i would switch to leupold windage adjustable bases and rings. recentre your scope and use the rear base to align the scope then fine tune with the scope adjustment. scopes perform best if the retical is close to centre.

Something is not right. I would disassemble it all and remount yourself making sure everything is sitting in the proper spot before tightening.
Worst case is the milling on the top of the receiver is off. I have seen it.

Thanks guys! think I fixed it. took everything off remounted then remounted again but put the front ring on the back and back on the front then looked down the bore at my vans mirror in the back yard 50m away. sure enough the scope had moved to the right. Now I have 18 clicks back.
