hnachaj: Not so fast, my friend. Lots of reasons for a round being stuck in the chamber of any shotgun. First of all, was the round fired or unfired? Dirty or clean chamber? Improper shell length in chamber? Worn extractor/ ejector? I do agree that every shotgun needs proper lubrication to work right. I prefer Ballistol.

x2! 870's (that I have known) are very picky about having the correct sized ammo. If it's chambered for "2 3/4 ONLY", then expecting any 3" shell to eject is like expecting to win the lottery.

I got a 870 express super magnum chambered in 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 not picky on ammo, 28" barrel, synthetic stock. Fairly new shooter, and already score between 17 and 21 at trap. its a good shotgun imo, just oil it A LOT, cheap finish tend to rust easily. I get better results with it than the guys who have 1000$ & + shotguns 324$tx incl. at SAIL. Added a 14$ Hi-Viz optical fiber front sight. Can't go wrong if you want a pump shotgun to get a 870. I wish I had the $ to get a Benelli SuperNova at first, now I am happy with my choice, leaves more $ to spend on shooting it

I dont know if it's actually possible to wear one out ? they just get smoother. So I would buy a used wing master in nice shape and pretty much rely on it functioning good. Nice if you could shoot it first.
In my opinion there is very little that goes wrong with a 870 that can't be easily fixed. If you buy an 870 and something goes wrong with it PM me I know my way around them fairly well .....

My son broke thee slide rail assembly on his this summer - the rails are likely over 45 years old with LOTS of range use!
The gun was assembled from parts when my older brother worked for George Pohl.
$20 and a 10 minute fix .

Yup I have a staking tool for the see rails. I think it displaces a wee bit more steel than the original from factory . I have staked them in at the gun club on the tailgate of the truck.

The 870TC (Trap Custom?) was made in the Remington Custom shop. Everypart is nicely honned and the blue is gorgeous! I sold mine a few years ago in the US for $900 USD! I should of kept it. BTW, today at our 500 bird pheasant shoot, we had FOUR 870s jam with a round stuck in the chamber! I did not see them but heard it on the radio and saw the buggy drive the owners to the Maitre D' to have the guns unjammed. The 870 still needs proper lubrication to work right!

Some people who reload don't roll the top edge of the shelver enough and they will stick. But will stick in most guns. I have never stuck a shell in any 870 I have owned. Skeet shooting , trap or hunting.
Maybe I just got lucky ......... Several thousand times.

A few thousand rounds myself through an 870, mostly Skeet, Sporting & hunting in 3 countries, from -35C to + 35C, mountains, prairies & tropics, freshawater & salt, in sun, rain, snow, sleet, dust storm & every kind nasty condition you could imagine.

Never had a stuck shell or a jam with either factory or reloads, nor any other kind of a mishap... and to date, after about 20 years with that particular 870, no broken parts.

LOL! I've done the same thing to a friend's Remington 58 that let go - after I swapped his broken trigger group for my 1100 spare ( latch spring broke)!
My son's rails BROKE however, right at the foe end- The slide broke right away from them!!
