New shotgun for fun

Can anyone give me an idea of what to look for in a shotgun. I don't want to spend a lot of money. It will be used mainly at a range. I do not forsee me doing any hunting in the future. Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
I would go with the 870 because they are very well built. For blasting away at the range I would go with a short (20" or less) OC barrel and mag extention. I'd toss a red dot sight ot shost rings on it. You'll have a blast with it.
 
For trap and skeet you should use an over/under or semi auto.
You will probably end up shooting double traps, or skeet, and you won't be able to cycle and re-aim fast enough with a pump.
I have a mossberg 930, solid built, cycles great, and you can get a new one for just under $500, compared to just over $700 for a Remington 11-87
 
Buy yourself a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 and you can mod the heck out of it if you want or keep it stock.
 
Thanks for your response. I have been leaning toward the 870 because I thing the dominion arms 12 looks a little too short.
 
The Rem 870 is a great choice for master blaster fun at the range.

With practice you can learn to trick shoot it and at the same time learn how well they shoot. (Never had a bad one yet).

You'll learn to shoot it real fast to the point you wouldn't know if you were shootin a semi or a pump.

Easier to clean too.:)

mossberg 590 is a great gun and a lot of fun at the range , really like my rem 870 with a 23" barrel as well , short enough to do really quick point shooting and long enough for clays and hunting .
 
you can pick up an older 2 3/4" 870 Wingmaster for a couple hundred bucks. they still have the same Wingmaster build quality (night and day difference to an express), however they are limited to 2 3/4" shells so noone wants them.

down the road you can add any 3" chamber barrel, and replace the ejector with the new 3" ejector and you have a 3" Wingmaster. if i had to buy a budget shotgun now, thats what i would buy.

one older Wingmaster i bought was in such pristine condition it looked like it had never been fired. cost me $100 after i sold the stock.

or hell, you can even leave it at 2 3/4" if you are just plinking with it and shooting clays.

i dont agree with this i leanded skeet on an old full choch pump shotty. u learn to do it. it is a timing act. no i shoot a BPS and it teaches u to aim fire reload aim fire. it is great for hunting. i think a pump is great to start with but semi or double barrel is great aswell
