:dancingbanana:Arrived yesterday, a new BPS Hunter 16 ga 28inch, :shotgun: and today I took it out of the box for the first time, lovingly stripped all that cosmoline out and oiled it niiiiiccccce. Assembled and in the rack waiting til the skeet field thaws out, maybe this weekend?? Was waiting for a 26 inch to show up, but when I heard about the expected price increases, :runaway: ordered the in-stock 28 instead. Only 3 more sleeps...... :dancingbanana:

I had posted a reliabilty question on the BPS before here. I got a few responses. I am looking at the BPS rifled barrel for deer.

I heard they have issues with jamming?? The guys who responded did not have any issues. What is your opinion? Obvisiously pretty excited about your BPS is this your first or one of many. Any issues ever with BPS?

my first shotgun was a Bps, and being as excited as a little school kid in a candy shop i took it out to my ranch and shot round after round, went through 500 shells in the weekend, and not once did it ever jam.. let alone the other 2000+ rounds ive put through it as well. its a great gun to own in my opinion

new to me

not had a BPS before, but have a Win 12. Very nice shotgun, but a little lighter than I prefer, and throws my hulls too far for real convenience. I had looked at a couple of well-used Ithaca 37s, but decided that new, with choke tubes, was the way I wanted to go. The Win 12 will eventually show up on the EE, guys.

first shot

got to the WTSC today, fired 50 rnds. Great gun! No problem loading quickly, some people must not read their manuals.....;)
started to get a little stiff on closing after a couple of hours in the cold, must have missed some cosmoline somewhere. Another cleaning, another 2 rounds of skeet, we'll see. Feels great, shoulders automatically, swings steady. About the bulk of a O/U, but lighter and better balanced for me. Good purchase!

Great buy! I just picked up Grade III 16ga BPS with 28"bbl a few weeks ago. Haven't shot it yet but it's a beautiful gun. I'm almost afraid to bring it into the field, might have to stay a safe queen. I've had BPS's before, and they've been great guns. Hope you enjoy your new 16! BTW, check out 16ga.com, it's a pretty good site devoted strictly to the 16. Lots of good stuff there.

Any gun can jam, it's all in the care you take of it. I'm looking for more BPS's cause I like mine that much. I wish they maded a rifled slug barrel with sites for these guns, cause I hate dogging with a scope.

Congrates on your new 16ga. How is it finding shells for. I don't see them for sale as much anymore.
