(new shotgun) remington 1187 vs ?

Interammo.com sells the Baikal mp 153 for $500 in Black Synthetic. If you are looking to go that route, was about the best price I could find. Mine is coming in the mail right now!

Versamax, versamax, versamax. Will cycle the heaviest 3.5" loads without beating the crap out of you. Also, because of the design it is very low maintenance and will cycle literally the lightest trap loads you can find. Points amazing right out of the box and is easily adjustable (with a hex key) for drop/cast etc. I know they haven't been around as long as some of the others but the simplicity and efficiency is hard to beat.

My Baikal mp 153 arrived. I can vouch that it is a very effective gun and does have 5 shot capacity although it comes with a plug for 3 by default and ready to go hunting. Buy and you won't cry. Recoil is just fine but I also plan on dropping a limbsaver on as I hear that will make its recoil non existent. I have used limbsavers on other guns and they make a massive difference for $40.

just bough a browning maxus in camo with 3 1/2 chamber for $1299......its a great gun.....cycles the cheap ammo with no probs and no cycling issues....very soft on the recoil

I know some Remingtons have had QC issues, blah blah blah... don't overlook the Versa Max, it's an absolute beauty. If the Remington markings weren't on it, I'd dare anyone to tell me it wasn't a Benelli. Mine has been stellar right out of the box now for a few outings, shooting anything and everything I could put in it. I also had some friends compare it on the skeet field against other equally expensive guns, and everybody seemed to prefer (and shoot better with) the VM.

Skip the new 1187, get a versamax instead. Check out a thread on it over at shotgun world by a guy named tujays. I've shot my buddies, its awesome. So if remmington is what you want - get the versamax
